Arbitrator rules in favor of ALPA
July 14, 2013
Fellow Pilots, Earlier today Arbitrator Ira Jaffee delivered his decision on the arbitration concerning the jurisdiction of our dispute resolution claim with SWAPA, ruling in favor of ALPA. A copy of the decision will soon be available on the Merger Hub website. The claim will now go back to the Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) for review, and absent consensus among the members, then to arbitration as set forth in the Dispute Resolution Agreement. That arbitration will determine whether the claim related to the sub-lease of the B-717 has merit. Our team will now be making preparations to return to Washington, D.C., as we look toward having our original dispute claim heard. We will update you throughout the continuation of the process. In service, Your ATN Master Executive Council |
What claim related to the sublease of 717's?
|
Approx. 500 Airtran Captains bid for B717's that are going to Delta.
It will be a struggle to correct based on the past performance of such cases. |
But the transition agreement (or whatever it was called) took into account the 717's leaving, right? So what are the AT pilots trying to get from this? Making SWA train the upgrades while the plane is still there?

Gloopy (and any one else interested),
Part of the ATN ALPA - SWAPA Transition was the Transition Bid. Everyone on the ATN side bid for one of 3 slots: SWA717CA, SWA717FO, SWA737FO. It was a straight seniority bid. At the time, ATN was told the domiciles for the SWA717 were going to be TPA and ATL. All the 737 domiciles remained. So, approximately 1,000 ATN pilots bid the 717 for reasons that are specific to them (keep CA seat, domicile, QOL, etc). Then right after the Transition Bid was awarded, SWA announced the 717's were being leased to DAL, but refused to allow a re-bid since there was now only one destination seat for ATN guys: SWA737FO. 1,800 ATN pilots should be making the transition based on a monthly bid. They are not. SWA is just (seemingly at random) choosing who on the ATN side is awarded a Transition slot. The DRC is seeking a remedy to this issue and this issue only. |
sounds like SWAPA/SWA ........given' some "Prison LUV" to ATN
|
Swapa is just delaying the concessions coming your way by throwing the air train pilots under the bus. Just an outsiders opinion.

SWAPA? What part of any of these corporate decisions do you think SWAPA has any input on? |
As an outsider, it truly sounds like southwest management needs to fix what they started... Good luck guys
