I figured the HPA's of the world would pick up the slack. The question is the cost. Outside of GI Bill benefits, who would finance such an endeavor? I think it will be cost prohibitive for a lot of guys. We have already seen a lot of the major airlines' minimums get rid of the ATP, I think that trend will continue and guys are just going to start getting it as part of their initial. You already get the required classroom and sim time anyway. The increased cost to the airlines will be marginal. Most already have DE's providing type rides which is essentially an ATP check anyway.

To be competitive I guess it helps to have the type! So can anyone compare Higher Power to Pan Am to K&S and pricing? Have to keep in mind hotels, meals, transportation etc...

Thanks again

If you use K and S, opt for the 737 NG sim. Having flown both, the AS -400 sim is less flying friendly. The NG sim at AS....sweet.

Did mine (737-200) at Pan Am in MIA ($5K), 40 hours of CBT at home. Validation test upon arrival. Systems integration for 3 days (MTW), flows (Th-Fri), then oral on Fri. Off Sat. Sim takes 7-8 days starting on Sun, we went pretty much non-stop. Plan for 2 weeks. Food cost is what you make of it, could be more $ , could be less. I spent $400. I ate at outback sometimes, and I had subs sometimes. Rental car was $400. Gas was around $200. Hotel was free, redeemed points. All total was $6k. The quality of the training was so-so. I studied, I tested, I passed. You pay, you get it. Good luck!

Hotels in Miami for training

If you are doing your 737 type in Miami, book early here;
Book a Hotel - Search Hotels by Map | Extended Stay America
The winter rates go up and the schools will book you late and you will miss these rates. I just found this out. I was quoted 110$ for their rate and I got 72.00$. Pretty big difference for ten days. Best of luck.
