New domicile?

My wife's friend whose husband works at SWA told her STL might a become a new base in the near future. Any truths to this from what you all know?

I'd be surprised if STL opened up before FLL or LAX if it opened up at all. I haven't heard anything about an STL base around campus yet.

That's the impression Network Planning left with my new-hire class a couple months ago. No timeline given, but he saw STL and FLL as the next 2 to open

Hello everybody, resurrecting this thread. What are the thoughts on LAX becoming a pilot base? I'm a west coast guy. Thanks!

I would say highly likely after Terminal 1 is finished being renovated. In fact there are supposed to be pilot and flight attendant crew lounges being added as part of the renovation FWIW.

It's only going to happen after the 1000 TPIC requirement gets dropped. That's straight from the CP's mouth.

Once the SWA acquisition of Alaska is complete, it's highly likely that SWA will have a base at LAX

Anything on the east coast would help. Especially if it's an easy commute from ATL for the AirTran folks who were displaced after the merger. I think FLL would ease the pressure on Orlando and Nashville and St Louis are always strong rumors. Time will tell I suppose.

Very strong rumor about FLL. They want to expand to the south and thats the best place to do it from.
