Nah, just trying to **** SWA off like everyone else. Soon you will have to creat an economy class as well :)

They (Spirit braintrust) must feel there is enough business in PIT to go around. Looking at flights and fares, AA and SWA already offer some pretty cheap fares from the Dallas area to PIT, direct.
Random date. 6/23. DFW-PIT Spirit-$145 AA-$165 SWA-$151 |

It seems Spirit has become more than just a slight nuisance to SWA. I doubt however Southwest cares to compete any with the ULCCs. They have too much market share with too many loyal customers on more routes than our CEO can even identify on a map.

Noticed southwests media campaign recently? It's directed exactly at us. Transfarency. They are looking at us.

Yup, pretty disgusting how SWAPA & mgmt colluded to F--- the Air Tran guys. Air tran guys should have called SWA bluff. There is no way they would have liquidated the airline.....f----rs

Yes working for a company that has never furloughed and pays awesome profit sharing/retirement. Would suck to be bought by them...
Says nobody who doesn't have a chip on their shoulder... |
I'd rather have WN buy us than stay solo. I'd be really upset about making about $40 more an hour as an FO with no responsibility than I do now as a captain. Never mind the profit sharing and retirement. Yeah, that would be awful.

It's not about having a chip on my shoulder. SWA's merger history with AirTran and their attempt to purchase Frontier years ago should make anyone second guess how great that would be. Sorry if I'm not feeling the luv. |

On our backs. I find it weird that someone who gets paid half of what their peers do is bragging about how long the company they work for has been profitable. This is why we will take 5 years to get a contract.

Ah, sorry, misunderstood. I thought you meant spirit. After posting I starting thinking....has Spirit been around for 43 years....

No chip on my shoulder but I'd rather make more as a CA here than be an FO at SWA, LOL. Point is, I think we have a better chance at making more money here as CA (with new contract) than we would if we got bought and subsequently bent over by SWA. |
Didn't we already try LBE to the west coast and it failed and was quickly dropped?
|
ULCC's are major competition for SWA and they know it.
Southwest: Competition from 'ultra low-cost carriers' is soaring |
Im glad it looks like we are keeping LBE with PIT.
Besides the fact i'm sure the LBE Airport Administration probably gives Spirit a $1 landing fee, the passengers out of there are some of the nicest Ive seen in our system. They seem to overall really love the fact Spirit is in LBE, not having to make the drive to PIT. I think people in Canton feel the same way. |
I love our LBE pax. No drama.

No chip, I just don't want to work there. Being crammed in a 737 for the rest of my career doesn't excite me. Nor does upgrading to OAK or BWI reserve after a decade or more and commuting in my twilight years. WN works great for a lot of guys but it isn't a place that I want to hang my hat. Spirit has a long ways to go but being able to set my alarm 2 hours before my report time has a lot of value to me. YMMV.
