Ok. Here it is. You are not the exception. My line sucks to. I do what I can to fix it during iot or dot. That's it. I get what I get and fly my line. It does suck right now but it's when the phone rings from scheduling it's not a call to help you out! You may justify it like that to make yourself feel better but it's a call to help them. I was one of the guys before contract talks started that also worked the deals and that's just how it was then. It's different now, if you fly for them for premium pay, it's only cause they have no choice. You take the trip it helps them. You take a plane out with an issue, it helps them. You fly sick, it helps them and hurts the group and your crew. If everyone would stop being so short sighted, just for a little while, we could get this done!!

So like you said you'll "fix" your line during dot. How is this different? I'm below line value after drops so I go to dot to "shop" for a replacement. Say something pops into dot that I'd like to grab but I cant because its less than two days out from show. Its not available to me unless I'm on the SA list. I'm not talking about covering for a sick call 5 hours till show. Its simply dot. For what its worth, over the course of a year.....I may have only said yes to one.....possibly two offers. it has to be a great trip (high value for little work). The rest I've declined. I've never got JRM from being on the list.
Serious questions......not trying to justify.

I don't drop trips. I swap for trips that might be better for commuting or higher credit. I only swap because I can't afford to have less credit. I don't go below the credit I need to pay my bills so I'm am not forced to wait on a call from scheduling. Yes, it does burn me up to get a flica alert with a three day with two days of dh. I understand. I also understand that this is the first step of desperation from scheduling to cover the trip. Let them offer ja for that stuff. Pay 200% to a guy at 1330 x2 for one day of flying. That a win win for the pilot group!! Like I said, the lines suck right now. Sometimes I can improve my month but most of the time I can't. That's why I am upset about the guys that bail the company out. I am working this terrible schedule to do my part to make it tough on the company and guys like you drop below credit on your own then wait on a call from scheduling to bail them out. That's what you are doing when you take a trip from them. You bail them out! You work less, get paid more, work the days you want on the backs of the guys that fly their lines. I am sorry that this might offend you. I am not trying to make enemies on here but enough is enough. Take a few months off using the excuse that it's in the cba. They are using the cba against us. They call us asking to help, making us feel like the are doing us a favor by offering mup. Let it go. Like the other guy said, give a senior guy a chance for JA. No, I am not senior!!!

So refreshing. The messaging tone is a much better reflection of the sentiment of the greater group.
This could be what we have all been waiting and wishing for.

All I can say is I'm not in the realms of being a choker. I'm fairly senior and they still made it to me twice this last week for JA (which I never returned calls for). But one thing is certain.......its way over the top to throw into the likes of a scab.

In a small way you make a point about if their calling standing avail., that they're close to "bail out" point. I'm just not viewing it that way. I look at It more so like when you "swap". I'm only trying to get back to line value (which many times doesn't even happen). For me, I never even considered being on the list until a great trip opened up, yet it just fell inside the 48 hours so wouldn't allow me to pick up. called scheduling and they said I could have it, yet my name had to be on the list to do so. I guess the big question is when are we helping them. Isn't it helping them if we pick up a trip a week in advance? still taking flying off the books.

1)Picking up DOT a week out clearly helps the company; flights are covered without paying a premium, or having to staff the company appropriately.
2)Being on the Standing Avail list to get that "sweet" trip inside of 2 days helps the company. They don't have to burn a reserve or pay 200% premium to another pilot to cover.
Burning reserves=
less reserves available=
more 200% calls=
less pilots to take JRMS=
******CANCELED FLIGHTS or more staffing/hiring******
(our strongest leverage)
I do not think there is any doubt that the standing avail list helps the company. How could they not want to have a list of pilots willing to cover trips, that may result in a cancelation, and they only have to pay a 1.5 hour day premium? Have you seen how many FOs are on the Standing Avail list for March? First year guys on there willing to come in, costing the company only $57 extra per day to have them save the day. Thats less than a carry on bag fee at the counter.

The worst offender in Vegas also loves to show pics of his huge house he just bought so that explains that. He's on the list pretty much everyday of the month. Let's maybe wait on the big expenses until after we get a great contract then by all means get that paper honey boo boo

I have to think.. if bend over and Jyri have two brain cells to run together they would know that two consecutive strikes in two consecutive labor disputes would have eternal repercussions on the hiring of pilots at Spirit
