NEOs are Junk

So the Neos...

1) First the engine was cannibalizing itself, chip detect, requiring engine changes on almost every NEO engine.

2) Then it was the "Air Sys Fault" which had the vague "Thrust lever to idle" ECAM, until the union helped (forced) the company to adapt the "land at the nearest suitable airport," which is now the "keep flying" read file.

3) Now its the "We are going to fly these at FL300 or below" because of a seal issue that we think is why we had the issue with (see number 1 above)

Fine, ill fly that thing at FL290 all day long, at 270 kias...lets overblock and make money...fine by me.

Scheduled to get 50 more of these POS...cant wait.

Cool thread.

OneEyedMonster 03-16-2017 05:25 PM

Haha. Well we have two threads on parking lots so why not one on the junk NEO airplane we are flying these days.

Mainly just wanted to say they are junk, that's all.

I agree there are some serious teething issues. I hope Airbus is compensating us for the down time.

Trowserchilli 03-16-2017 05:34 PM

Wrong engines. Frontiers are doing fine.

trip 03-16-2017 05:41 PM

It's all ball bearings nowadays.

beech_nut 03-16-2017 05:44 PM

You hope airbus is compensating "us"? lol, who cares. As long as it doesn't kill me I don't care. Show me the money!!! That is all I care about anymore.

What are you complaining about? Now you can put "Experimental Test Pilot" on your resume. Also, "Chemical Warfare Developmental Engineer, Toxic Respiratory Inhalation Specialty."

The real Mike O 03-17-2017 07:04 AM

One of the maintenance guys told us that P&W is redesigning the engine and that only one of them is available in North America.

And now one if DFW is hanging out with only one engine?

Lol seems a little late for an engine redesign... good job P&W!!!

I'm sure flying around at and below FL300 is saving tons of fuel.

The perfect example of irony; buying a fuel saving plane, yet having to fly it at FL290/FL300 because of the engines.

Lolol

CFM's man.

P&W's are for turboprops and round engines anymore.

You'll be able to check em out soon enough when we merge.

Are you developmentally challenged, or a millennial? There are only 2 engine options for the NEO. NK has one and F9 has the other.

Left Handed 03-18-2017 12:34 PM

I flew 904 around couple weeks ago and noticed a really bad harmonic vibration at around 79% N1. In Cruise, above 84% N1, they were smooth, but when Power was reduced for a descent or a slower airspeed to the 79% range there was a really bad vibration.

I can't believe Pratt and Whitney has manufactured such a POS. I'm sure the original engineers that created the R2800 are rolling around in their graves right now. Really sad. They need to fix these engines,... Their good name is at stake. I'm really glad I'm not flying these engines overwater.

Montego Bay must be in Michigan..

FLYBOYMATTHEW 03-19-2017 05:25 AM

He didn't say he's glad YOU'RE not flying them overwater, he said he's glad HE's not flying them overwater. :;)

If you thing flying to Mo Bay is "overwater" we truly are very different animals with different backgrounds,.. My definition of "overwater" is when you look out the window you don't see land for 8 or 9 hours. I suspect you're idea of overwater is flying across Lake Michigan in an RJ.

OneEyedMonster 03-19-2017 07:06 AM

Ahhhh....pilots

Comparing and measuring dong size since the first flight of the Wright Flyer.

Really?????

Eh, our navigators were so precise that we would fly over Ocean Station November and give them a position fix. :D

Ha! That said, it's lost on this crowd, but funny.

I shoot with a guy who actually served on the Atlantic Ocean
Stations--said it cured him of ever owning a boat or taking a cruise.
