Realistic hiring Mins?
I'd appreciate some insight from those in the know on current hiring mins, trying to decide if I'm competitive enough to be considered.
CMEL, 2000 TT, 680 TPIC (PC12 mostly) a little LR35 SIC experience, Currently SIC in BAE 146 (no type and not building much time). Total 850 hrs in crewed AC. Part 135 experience, but no 121. Ex military, but was not a pilot (15F) Thanks for taking the time! |

Get your ATP and some sort of misdemeanor arrest like a DUI or a minor assault charge and you can be in the next new hire class

You can show up to the interview in your pajamas. As long as you promise you will not leave for Delta. Your in like Flynn. |

Zero chance without an ATP. Per the website Spirit wants a current unrestricted ATP.
I don't think it necessarily has to be unrestricted. They hired a guy recently with a restricted ATP due to age. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I should've mentioned the ATP aspect. I'm debating if it's worth paying for my own ATP course. My current company has no need for an ATP license, so of course won't provide that.
Now I have to decide if it's worth it to front the ATP money in hopes of skipping the regionals. |

Plus, you might find yourself having a tough run in our training program with your limited experience. You probably dont want Spirit to be your first part 121 training experience. Seriously...get some 121 experience and get through a standard 121 training program before this firehose crash course. |

I had plenty of mil hours and still paid out of pocket for my ATP. I think having all your credentials in hand is pretty much expected if you want any major to take you seriously. I don't think Spirit has a program for repaying for training, they want you to show up qualified in every way except for the type.
Lots of regionals would probably be happy to train you up in return for a year or two payback contract, and with some regionals, in that 1-2 years you'd get paid better than a first yr spirit FO (after bonuses) and possibly get enough hours to be interesting to a Legacy. I have a friend in a similar situation (ex-military but not a mil pilot). He is starting off with skywest, and will have a good chance at ending up at a legacy in a couple years. |
