Well, you'll get ACY right away, most of the captains are cool, trips are okay, usually a lot of open time to change your schedule around, parking is literally a two minute walk to the terminal (if that). If you're okay with being an FO for at least 6 years, come on over.

I used to flight instruct at RJ Miller.

6 years?! I just had a Ca in the jumpseat said it took him 3..why the change all of a sudden?

This info might be a bit outdated...but one of my friends I flew with in ACY with Skyking went to Spirit in 2012 and only sat right seat for maybe 2 years. He's a Capt in ACY now enjoying his day turns to Florida.

It's not "all of a sudden"

It's been going that way for a while now. Until we announce a fresh order of airplanes we hired our last "fast" upgrade "3 year" captain well over a year ago.

We have zero airplanes in order outside of the ones we've already had for a few years. Will that change? Maybe. Maybe not.

Just be prepared to sit in the right seat for a long time if you come here.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best. But with our current brain trust in Miramar, I wouldn't even hope that much.

Thank you... I don't know why it is so hard to understand this for some people. The upgrade is at around 3 years for those who got hired 3 years ago. Upgrade if you get hired tomorrow will be a loooong time unless we get an airplane order. Which I think we probably will, but the upgrade will still be more than 3 years.

Currently have 100(?)

I believe we will end up with 160 under our current orders.

Not sure why this has to keep on being explained. Upgrade time is predicated on the number of airframes an airline gets and retirements. Spirit has very few retirements. The average captain is fairly young. We have 100 airframes right now and current orders bring us to 160. So yes, when we were expanding, upgrade time was within two years of hire date, now it's just over three years. With only 60 more airframes coming, we have hired all our captains already. Unless we get more airframes, if hired now, you will forever be an FO.
Maybe take a look at Spirit investor relations.....

Your seniority will be much better at a legacy. Just look at the numbers.
