Motley Fool article on our Short Staffing

https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/07/18/was-spirit-airlines-investor-update-good-news-bad.aspx

Heres the paragraph discussing it.....

"Spirit Airlines' poor June operational performance indicates that the pilots have been right to say that the carrier is understaffed. Operational performance may improve in the fall, when aircraft utilization tends to decline seasonally. However, before the 2018 peak season, Spirit Airlines absolutely must increase staffing and mend fences with its pilots, in order to keep flight cancellations under control."

You beat me to it chimpy!!!

The last part I find somewhat positive. The investment community is starting to hear our message. Now, if management could just pull their heads out of each other's asses....

Sadly Im not sure it will matter. Everything Ive seen leads me to believe this upper management is/has been Reactive, not proactive

I doubt they will change anything because the RASM is up 5% even with the cancellations. All they have to do is get to September 1 and They will have a whole winter season to figure out how to blame the pilots again. Our only hope is if the investors get skittish and start hammering the board.

If they continue to be unreasonable and we continue to ask for what's completely reasonable it's time for a strike vote and time to convince the NMB that the company is never going to come around and we aren't going to settle for less than industry standard. Time to push for release.

Qotsaautopilot 07-18-2017 09:51 AM

The money keeps pouring in and they keep stepping of dollars to save dimes just to spite us. They can't seem to get out of their own way to make this airline the amazing success it could be.

THR IDLE 07-18-2017 05:07 PM

Impossible, Bob says we're staffed properly and have more reserves than industry standard.

Bumbling Bob is gonna have some splanin' to do if queried about the situation. Should be an interesting earnings call if asked the appropriate questions....

When most investors get skittish, they just sell their shares and move on. You guys need a hedge fund or activist/investor type with deep pockets and a ton of shares to speak up, or else nothing will happen.

The problem with your leadership, from my perspective, is they are convinced that they are smarter than everyone else. And maybe they do know something we don't, but you can only **** off your passengers for so long with cancellations and delays, eventually, people will refuse to fly on Spirit. I don't care how cheap the ticket price appears to be, people will eventually go to great lengths to avoid flying with you.

I know you guys are proud of the job you do, and you should be. It sucks that your management doesn't care enough about your passengers to provide the product they are paying for.

Yes. Thank you. We know. Didn't think it was necessary to state the obvious, but when we say "investors" we never once meant Joe Six Pack Investor, we're talking about the analysts and hedge fund managers who call in during the quarterly earnings reports. We're talking about the investors who write articles for Motley Fool, Seeking Alpha and CNNMoney, to name a few.

Bobby Two Scoops has been blowing sunshine and happiness up their arses for the past year and a half, and for the most part they've been content and buying it.

Things are finally starting to change. The people who matter are finally starting to recognize this mismanagement for what it truly is.

Actually I think bob is a pretty smart guy. Maybe his mind works faster than his mouth can spit it out. Bendo is the one to blame for the shat-show of an operation we are experiencing right now. He needs to be gone.

Here's a question for all of you. It's a brain buster:

Name 3 things that Spirit does well?

I can't even come up with one.

1. ****es people off
2. Cancels flights for no crew
3. Profit!

I am actually one who believes they know exactly what they are doing. Bob is a smart guy and it is obvious that he is setting this company for a sale. I will argue even further that the terms of the sales are already set and trimming the operation down is part of it. I would bet this company will be sold this September though I have lost many bets before. We shall see.

1. makes a sh-t ton of profit by grossly undercompensating it's pilots

amboy44 07-27-2017 06:30 AM

Stock off 15%. Can't imagine why....

FlyGuy2002 07-27-2017 06:35 AM

If the board wasn't paying attention before.. they are now. And the bid sheet this AM indicates the staffing is an issue. Even in the height of previous growth quarters, there have never been the amount of upgrades we are seeing now.. The boys in Miramar are feeling some pressure I'm guessing... will this be the straw that breaks the camels back?? well see.

Currently running a 96% Completion Factor...........

SMH, thats terrible. We really need to better if we want to actually stay in business

Getting a new pilot contract ratified is the only way for Spirit Airlines to get its pilots motivated again -- and to ensure that the company can continue to recruit new pilots to support its growth. Achieving a new contract that is fair to the pilots but affordable for the company thus ought to be management's highest priority right now. After all, having pilots available when they are needed is a precondition for any airline to succeed.

How high's the water? 18% and rising...

CFO seems optimistic that a new contract won't hurt the company...

From: https://www.thestreet.com/story/1424...s-results.html

Chief Financial Officer Ted Christie said, ""While our cost performance for the second quarter was not satisfactory, we do not believe it materially changes our long-term cost outlook and are confident that we will continue to maintain, or grow, our relative cost advantage."

A copy of the transcript from the earnings call:

https://seekingalpha.com/article/409...pt?part=single

It's long, but worth a skim. The negotiations are mentioned several times, despite an early "That's all I've got to say about that" from Edward Christie.

Thank you alpa for fighting for us not to get any stock options on the last contract!!!!! I guess you saw this coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I truly don't like having to add one of our own to my ignore list. But when one only throws stones without offering a constructive or an informative path forward, it becomes tiring reading such blather...
