GoJet Airlines Announces Pilot Pathway Program with Spirit Airlines

AirbusA321Pilot 08-01-2017 02:44 PM

I commute on them and have been hearing about this for months from GoJet crews and now it is the first time I have seen it as an official report from GoJet itself.

I'm sure when Go Jet loses the contract for United due to staffing issues it will create the perfect opportunity for Spirit to snatch them up and create "Spirit Express"

It's my understanding that they are actually pretty adequately staffed compared to many regionals. I know a couple guys on reserve over there who barely get called.

What a joke !! Now I will be babysitting more cellphone addicted baby's who can't stop texting!

Stupid comment. I'm sure there are many professionals at GoJet and we would be happy to have them.

Many of you are reading into this way too much. We (Spirit) won't even see the effects for a couple years. Let's face it... We may still have trouble attracting pilots after we get an industry standard deal. The flood gates are going to open and Delta, United, Amr etc. is still going to look better than Spirit. The company knows this and they are trying to plan ahead.

They say that laughter is the best medicine, especially early in the morning. Thank you sir, you win the Internet for today.

Haha. Yeah after my morning coffee and getting the ol brain running on all cylinders I have to admit. "Company" and "planning ahead" don't really belong in the same sentence.

It's been two days since this was announced and still nothing from our union. Are they asleep at the switch? Or maybe they're too busy granting relief?

He's does have a point. The cell phone addicts are becoming more commonplace. Telling people to stop really shouldn't have to happen.

Chief Brody 08-03-2017 09:48 AM

ALPA needs to put the Spirit pilot's union dues to work and give us all a read on this type of contract circumvention. NOW.. before this gets out of hand a spreads like the plague.

I'm a known line-in-the-sand guy. So please, I'd like to hear your take on how this is a CBA circumnavigation.

Chief Brody 08-03-2017 10:11 AM

I stand corrected. What I meant to say was that this flow through is a means for management to delay signing a contract. If mgmt felt the pinch of a pilot shortage they would be more apt to get wages up (better contract) to attract candidates. Now that problem is solved.

Flown with plenty of Captains who are addicted to there phones so still a stupid generalization of a group of pilots.

I didnt think it was a ca vs FO thing. I certainly goes both ways and it's becoming tiresome

bruhaha 08-04-2017 05:29 AM

There is this captain that as soon as he's off the runway, he's typing away on the acars while he's trying to taxi and get the lights and ground spoilers. I guess he doesn't trust me sending the landing report after blocking in.

Douglas9 08-04-2017 06:04 AM

I'm not sure but did I miss the union reply to this flow through?

No email or comment from our union. They send out emails about all sorts of things nobody cares about, but nothing on this?

Green Giant 08-04-2017 08:23 PM

Go Jets gets a flow through. What do we get? A reverse Flow through to GO Jets as a Captain if we Furlough? Oh that is right, ALPA isn't getting anything for us in this deal.

Spoke to a younger GoJet pilot the other day, they said most of the pilots there were laughing about it, why take a pay cut to to come sit right seat at Spirit when they can build 121 PIC time for more money where they are..... this "flow" might work for a dozen pilots that live in one of spirits bases but that's about it, a PR stunt mostly.

This is a very poor attitude and generalization regarding an entire pilot group. The best thing we have going at Spirit are the crews we get to fly with each day; let's not lose that with assumptions like this towards our new hire pilots.

We never know everything that is going on in another persons life and maybe there is a very good reason someone is prolifically texting between flights. If it's affecting flight ops then by all means address it but if not then to each his own.

Let's not eat our own, we have enough negative sh*t going on already.
