Sorry I can't remember did that number count the folks asked to resign during new hire training?? I was thinking they said it did.

Big reason is Spirit has nothing vested and has no problem with cutting new hires loose. That looks really really bad if it happens to you.

Liars figure and figures lie.

We have 1768 pilots on property as of today. And as of today 109 have left. That is an attrition rate of 6.165%. Not exactly overwhelming.

The figure is for pilots hired in 2017. Pretty overwhelming.

Then the OP should have stated such. Our attrition isn't 25%. It's not even a quarter of that.

Our attrition YTD is less than 6.5%.

Our new hire attrition isn't even the above 25% as that includes retirements as well and senior pilots leaving.

Our new hire attrition is probably closer to 15%. But even then we don't know enough to say what that number is in the first 90 days when pay is $1750/month or what it is for the remaining 270 days at $38/hour + benefits.

Headline news should stay on Fox or MSLSD. Facts here are greatly appreciated. Although, if you're senior to me then fell free to GTFO.

The way it was worded to me “crew room talk”. In 2017 we hired ~400 and this year we have had ~100 pilot leave for various reasons.

Net gain 2017 ~300.

Why are you arguing about this? During the past year, for every 4 people we’ve hired, one person has left. That’s 25%. Which is obviously different than 25% of all our pilots leaving. The OP stayed the exact numbers in post #1. Nothing to get your undies in a bunch over.

Not to pile on, but to pile on. If, during the past year, you hired 50 new pilots, but had 50 pilots resign/retire, that would mean you stayed constant at the same staffing level. 100%. Which is obviously different than 100% of all the pilots currently employed leaving. If the later was the case, the airline would shut down because they lost all their pilots. Big difference. Thus concludes our math lesson for today. Class dismissed.
