YourMom 01-05-2018 02:40 PM

95% of us are republicans. I believe we are all getting a tax cut in one way or another except for the 2 liberals I've flown with. The company is also getting a tax cut which should make getting a deal easier for them now. You know they are not sharing.

BeechedJet 01-05-2018 02:46 PM

Wait for a lost and found email saying our bonus was lost on ship 667NK.

You’re a pilot at an LLC? I would give you 50/50 odds that your taxes will go up.

If you make 100-200k, are a homeowner, pay state income tax, are single, write off union expenses and per diem when you itemize, your taxes likely went up.

If you make more than 200k (and we’re subject to AMT, are married, don’t own a home, live in one of the 7 states without state income tax, are married, or have lots of kids, your taxes likely went down.

Speak for yourself that 95% are republicans and support that clown

You mean a billionaire reality tv show star doesn’t have the working man’s best interest at heart? I am shocked!

He is responsible for the safest year in the history of aviation. 0 commercial airline deaths in 2017. Our supreme leader is keeping us safe. Twitter. Learn it bro.

YourMom 01-08-2018 02:28 AM

Ahh and here come the 5% shouting Russia and insults till they are blue in the face. Like republicans, most pilots are not single, have kids, and don't deduct over double the standard deduction even with per diem and union dues. So again 95% of us will see a tax decrease. That is not even considering the $1000 additional credit per kid. Liberals are silent on this. Economy is great, jobs are great, money in our pockets, it's almost like America is great again.

You sir, must live under a rock. Your statement only confirms my suspicion.

The smart ones don’t identify with one political party and probably just nod when the party supporters, usually, but not always republicans, go on one of their cockpit political rants

Can't argue with that.

Haha (I spell right, no?). Funny that you think you are "working man". I am shocked if you ever have dirt under finger.

Maybe will be different under opra

You mad because I made of your dear orange leader? We get paid by the hour and are part of a union. If that doesn’t fall under what is consider a job I don’t know what is then I guess.

Flyondawall 01-09-2018 03:26 AM

I’m not sure what the problem is. Record stock market, 401k balance and investments are up, tax cut putting more in most of our pockets, employment lowest in years, economy chugging along, infrastructure spending will increase and keep the economy moving, NK talking to SK. Life is great. So what if it’s an unconventional POTUS.
MAGA baby.

Don’t get your panties in a bunch my little snowflake, my post was an attempt at humor. Although when you inherit something that has hit bottom, there is no place to go but up.
I’ll certainly enjoy the ride and gains of the market. I’m just a guy, nothing I do or say changes what decisions are made in Washington. I just try to look for the rosy spots and try to capitalize on that.
No need to go to my safe space.

Obama NEVER had annual GDP growth of 3% in eight years! The first president in modern history to not reach that number. The economy under Trump achieved that in his first year.

Haha, god you're a tard. Not saying Obama was any good but what were his numbers when he left office? Your chart shows the year after obama took office and was in the thick of the global housing collapse for his performance. You trump lovers are a real one sided bunch

Yeah, there is. I wish they would so we could discuss this bonus we are getting.

The bonus is a scam. Company pays new reduced tax rate on that money, then they stroke you a check and you pay your 23%+ taxes and the gubmint laughs all the way to the bank.;)

Oh god yes, this is so true. I really pity those poor fools who got an extra bonus check. We're so much better off not getting extra money.

I bet we can get an ideal 0% tax rate if we get paid nothing... Maybe you should make that suggestion to your NC.

I did, and I was dismissed as a crank. As was my suggestion we be paid in gold bullion and .22 long rifles as a hedge against the next inevitable financial/societal collapse. :D

20,000 rounds of LR? I'll take that option.

It's because .22LR isn't a serious survival round, at least not by itself. Fine for rabbits and other small game but you're gonna need something a bit heavier for bigger game, including marauding humans showing up from time to time to kill you and take your stuff. .223 is ok especially if you have some steel core to help punch through lightweight armor, but you really ought to have something that can reach out and touch someone. 7mm Rem Mag shoots flat but it's not popular enough to have a lot of options. Think on it a while, see what the experts say.

Don't forget a handgun for close-in work too. .45 is a perennial favorite but .40 S&W packs a great punch (far better than 9mm) and almost anyone can shoot it since it has a nice short casing meaning grips that are easier for a wider variety of people to hang on to.

Plus... Gold? That's for amateurs. What you really need is a dozen or more miles of copper wire in various gauges. The guy who can wind generators and electric motors is going to be able to set his own price when combining efforts with other enclaves.

I think you just didn't research your proposal enough. Spend a month or three updating your suggestion and let us know how it goes.

Anyone know if the tax rate on our possible signing incentive will be lower under the new tax plan?

FML666 01-09-2018 11:00 PM

10MM, it's like a .40 but for men...

From Bloomberg on Dec 18, not sure if it made it into law though.

Supplemental Wage Rate Changes
The supplemental wage withholding rate, which applies to nonregular “supplemental” wages paid by an employer such as bonuses and commissions also are to change under the bill.

The supplemental wage withholding rate for supplemental wages less than or equal to $1 million, using the flat withholding method, would increase to 28 percent under the bill. The rate is an increase from the current supplemental wage withholding flat rate of 25 percent, in effect since 2007.

Supplemental wage payments in excess of $1 million during the 2018 taxable year would be subject to a reduced rate of 37 percent under the bill, compared to the current rate of 39.6 percent.

fly20201 01-10-2018 04:18 PM

The 28 percent rate is only the withholding rate. That is what your employer withholds from your bonus check, but at tax time it is taxed at your normal rate. In essence the government is getting an interest free loan, and then you get a bigger refund or pay less taxes when the time comes.
