700+ Jetblue pilots picket in freezing cold

If any of you are underwhelmed with this TA I sure hope you were one of the 60-100 unified spirit pilots at one of our own picketing events. If you weren’t well...

700+ Jetblue pilots stood unified today in the cold in NYC. If you don’t think picketing matters I can guarantee you that a showing of that size sends a message to Management and also is incredibly unifying for the group.

700 of them showed up to picket for a contract when what they have now is only slightly worse than what we just TAd. Some of their pay is already higher than our TA. Their rigs are the same with duty period averaging minus the 24hr overnight credit. Ask them about 10hr 3 days. Their retirement is worse than our TA but much better than what we have now. Their LTD is solid but not quite as good as our TA I believe. They have zero scope. I’m anxious to see what we got there. Point is- 700+! Where are we Spirit pilots?

Not in DFW for either of the pickets.

I know for a fact the total of pilots from ALL our pickets wouldn't surpass the 700 that showed for JetBlue! We have an apathetic group.

1. Jetblue doesn't have an Alpa contract. They're picketing "treatment". Mama took away the "tit", they're ****ed and rightly so.

2. You need to look at how they arrived there. They were bought and paid for, for over a decade and it's come home to bite them in the form of a huge codeshare list, medical, etc. Sometimes a gift is more of a backhand.

3. Nothing has ever been "given" to the spirit pilot group, it's always been a fight. It's also not a secret and if you had evaluated spirit prior to coming here you would have known that. It's not an excuse, just a reality.

4. I have worked at a few airlines and I have never seen more disorganization, lack luster leadership, infighting, leathargic, and in general a total lack of direction than SPA Alpa. Maybe not some of the guys currently, but certainly prior. The style of leadership within the union is exactly the same as the style within our management team.

This group needs a change. We have some talent, but they spend all their time on APC preaching when they could be leading.

This thing will pass and we're going to live it because it takes more than just saying "no" to get what you deserve.

Bowing out..

🍻

Due respect Putzin, if the jb pilots ever had a tit... it was wooden.

JetBlue voted in ALPA 2 or 3 years ago they have been working on their first TA ever since THAT is why they are picketing.

We have a contract that’s worse and a ta that’s only slightly better and we can only get 60 guys to show up at a picket. Sad

It was over 200 for the one back in April. December was 350.

So that turnout equals:

22% for F9 (using APR since it was F9 pilots only apples-apples)
20% fo B6

Quite the opposite.
I have been around long enough to know that pay is very volatile, while work rules are permanently gone when given away!

I was not here for the strike but followed it closely and agree with you.
I value the efforts of my predecessors and their sacrifice which one of the reasons why am NOT willing to allow this management to take away the QOL that was gained during the strike.
When I came here shortly thereafter, Spirit was in the honeymoon phase, during a time of tremendous growth and optimism.
As my third union experience I think we have a weak/apathetic membership which voted for a POS LOA, which should have been included in contract negotiations.
We gave them relief, and we got sued.
The topping will be passing this TA!

And about 3% for the last Spirit picket.

The group is tired and apathetic at this point. It is why this will pass and be done. Guys either dont care enough or/and too tired to do anything.

We deserve a better deal, but this is what we earned. Plain and simple.

And any of our loudmouths on here who like to spout about how we need to do this, and that, how many events did you attend? How many events did you call coworkers to attend.

I never saw any of the DFW loudmouths at any of these events; Ol Audi was absent at the Texas events; DFW picket, and IAH picket..yet loves to shoot that mouth off. FLL event, we had less show up to a sunny walk in FLL than Frontier did on a cold cold day in Denver, about 5 times as many showed for Frontier.

Started with the IAH shareholders event when about 40 of us showed. 40 for our first event, face to face with the company. Union even paid for hotel rooms, we got 40!

We cant blame the MEC, NC, ALPA national or anyone...this is on us. For a group that hates to be disrespected, not many are doing much about it instead of flapping those gums during this process.

^^^^spot on!

Hopefully the gains are bigger than the concessions we see in the TA tomorrow.

I think one 26%er showed at IAH, only to push his own agenda(DFW LEC).

Qotsaautopilot 02-01-2018 08:48 AM

I called an picked up guys and drove to them to the events. I also saw at least one 26% walking proudly and not mouthing off about anything in FLL. The first DFW picket had a decent showing and wide open flights with over 100 seats both ways yet only 4 guys decided to attend from FLL. The loudest mouths never show though.

Like I said, its what we eared. We are only as strong as our members, together as a group, and we do not do that well at this point.

Why we are that way, who knows..but its how things stand.

Hercbubba 02-01-2018 01:19 PM

It’ll pass first vote...pilots are greedy, they won’t wait to renegotiate a new contract and have another year of ****ty pay! If they don’t take this TA, then one next year will be about 3-5% better, which will equate to 43% less money in the meantime being paid same wage for yet, another year! Greedy scared pilots ruin everything!

Yes, makes difference. Make manager laugh. I hear about STAY HYDRATED.

We walk circles they laugh at us. All does is make us feel better. No difference at table. Picket for pilot not manager

I see a lot of people not happy with pay rate because of pbs, small increase to 401k, transition loss, new rig not happen unless pbs finish, schedule integrity and more.
