There are regionals who will still meet or possibly even beat spirit's first-year pay even if this TA passes, due to various signing bonuses at the regionals. If you know for a fact you're going to get hired up after just a year, then by all means try a regional that has a great first year compensation offer. Living in base for that first year should probably be a huge consideration too, as that can save a LOT of days off and money otherwise wasted commuting.
That won't be gojet. If you want to fly the bus and get paid 75%ish of what other major airlines get for flying the same plane on the same routes though, go to spirit. No hiring bonus but you'll be in the bus making reasonably decent money while you get enough hours to go somewhere else. Spirit used to be attractive on the basis of quality of life, ie. scheduling flexibility and work rules. The new contract will likely walk back a bunch of those work rules, in exchange for increased pay and other highly valuable considerations like scope protection and long-term disability. That will put spirit's QOL and benefits more in line with other airlines, but the pay will still be around the 75% level so spirit will remain a stepping stone for a lot of pilots. Again, if it's really just for a year, then do the research and math and figure out how to maximize your income and live in base. Plenty of options out there. If it's gonna be more than a year, Spirit is probably a better choice but you're still likely going to want to move on if you get an offer at a "real" major instead of a ULCC. |
GoJet will start growing like weed after NK starts using them for feed.

Step 1: Go to GoJets
Step 2: Tell girls at bars in downtown St. Charles you fly jetzzz Step 3: ??? Step 4: Pass training. That's pretty much all you need to know. |
Well if you’re really unsure you can’t go to g7 for a year then flow to spirit.

My hope either way (because that’s all I’ve got) is that I’ll only do a year or so, and get on with another major possibly. With the TA a lot is at stake. Even if first year pay got better, wouldn’t see that for a while. $38/hr is rough-even for a regional. |
I know how this guy feels. I'm at l-xjet and have a class date at endeavor (where I can be a captain immediately and still drive to work) but I'm also planning to go to a spirit job fair this month, as I think avoiding a lateral move if Incan is probably better. I can drive to work with spirit as well (actually, in general, I refuse to be a commuter).

There is more to life than year one. If any regional has more year 1 pay then go to NK and think of the slighly less pay as the best gauranteed investment you can ever make. Will you make six figures year two and will you upgrade at the regional and make $200k+ a year after a few years? No, not even close. If this really is a serious question you need to plan life beyond 1 year because there are thousands of 10-20 year regional pilots who thought they be at legacy after a couple years.

Thanks. This is the kind of stuff I was looking for. It’s not my lifelong goal to work at Go Jet. It was the street captain pay that made it even a question.

Everyone has a CL 65 type:D 3 Once another order is made you’ll upgrade in 3 years or less. |
