Under current fleet add 2.2% for 321 override.

A 3rd year CA at DOS at $196.00 + 2.2% override for A321 is $200.31

Which means even the newest captain upgrades will be cracking the 200/hr threshold. Upgrades are currently running approx. 2yrs 9 mo.

Plus 11% DC with any IRS limit overages paid directly to the pilot. That makes it $222.34.

You ain’t edumicated. The company can contribute up to $53k to your retirement. You would have to make $481k for them to hit that.

The limits shown on IRS.GOV for 2018 are as follows:

"The limitation for defined contribution plans under Section 415(c)(1)(A) is increased in 2018 from $54,000 to $55,000."

"The contribution limit for employees who participate in 401(k), 403(b), most 457 plans, and the federal government’s Thrift Savings Plan is increased from $18,000 to $18,500."

"The catch-up contribution limit for employees aged 50 and over who participate in 401(k), 403(b), most 457 plans and the federal government’s Thrift Savings Plan remains unchanged at $6,000."

Remember that the limit of $55,000 (assuming you are under 50) applies to contribution from all sources, so if you contribute $18,500 then the company can only contribute $36,500.

Now that would mean you would still have to make over $300k, and I think the IRS limits the income that can be used to $275k, so that shouldn't be a factor.

Actually, the 2018 limit is $55k total. You can put in $18,500 yourself and then let Spirit put in the remaining $36,500. Your point remains, however that even in this situation, you’re not likely to exceed the $332,000 income necessary to trigger an excess situation and a cash payout.

Still not a bad provision to have as your pay rates climb [and Company contribution rate?—honestly don’t know, not poking at you] over the life of the contract.

As a side note, the contribution limits and overage limits increase by $6,000 per year starting the year you turn 50.

EDIT: Looks like GoCats beat me to it. Like everything else, I’m late to the party!

Gotcha thanks. Apparently I ain’t edumicated either.

How much more do you really think VX would have achieved without Alaska? The NMB factors in size.

He’s just a troll. If you look at his post history all he does is go from airline to airline boards telling them how much they suck.

I was reading the CBA and says ....for A321 pay rate is 110% of the current rates...is that the way company is going to pay a pilot to fly the A321? ...Thanks
Have a interview next week...looking forward to join....

FNGFO 03-02-2018 07:57 AM

321 override is averaged into all the flying. Basically it adds 2% to the current rates.

It’s a ratio of 321’s in the total fleet. You don’t have to physically fly the 321 to get 321 override. It’s a percentage/ratio of your total Credit hours.

“The rates of pay for Airbus pilots shall be based on the ratio of total system-wide A321 block time to the sum of system-wide A319/ A320 and A321 block time (revenue and non-revenue) in the month. For example, in September 2005, 2,400 block hours (50 percent) are flown in the A321, and 2,400 combined block hours (50 percent) are flown in the A319/A320. Therefore, all Airbus pilots shall be paid 105 percent of their rate of pay set forth in Section 3 of the Basic Agreement, regardless of which aircraft they are assigned/awarded, for all credit earned in the month. The overage shall be paid on the second paycheck in the following month, in this example, on the second paycheck in October 2005.”

Qotsaautopilot 03-02-2018 08:04 AM

So the override is going to be decreasing as we start taking more 320 deliveries. It is a good way to disperse the over ride though instead of having 321 dedicated lines or having to track each flight you fly a 321 which the company would ultimately screw up just like the Intl override

From the company's perspective the A321 pays 110%. If we had all A321s we would all make 10% more per hour. But override is paid to everyone based on ratio of A321 block hours to A319/320. So really the APC payrates should not show the A321 paying the same as A320/A319.

Airline Pilot Central still has our old pay scale listed. Anyone know how long it takes for APC to update the correct pay scale for Spirit?

Tranquility 03-05-2018 07:17 AM

They also have our old-old tail image.... So, I’m guessing a while.

It used to be that you could submit new info. Not sure if it relies on that or someone does that on their own.

Edit: Big red "have an update" button

The company can only contribute on first $275k into retirement, then you get overage.

How the 75 mil signing bonus divided up? Obviously by seniority but how did the junior guys fair compared to the senior guys?

About 70K difference IIRC. If you’re in the middle of the seniority list, you get about 30K.
