Guess you came out of the womb making FMA callouts. Bet you are a joy to fly with.

He's not wrong. I have had new F/Os answer their cell phones while doing before T/O Checklists, Text while taxiing into Gate, give me attitude when I try and help them with energy management. Attitude is the biggest problem I see

You get what you pay for simple as that. In this hiring environment the most qualified generally don't even think about going to Spirit. With the new CBA you may get a few more who feel stuck at regionals or bad corporate gigs. In general you will get the leftovers or the folks that can't get on at the top tier because of failures, no degree, etc. You want the best, pay the best, its that simple. Until you are willing to hold the line for a great contract then don't expect great applicants.

That’s an issue everywhere. It’s largely a generational thing - and that’s coming from a millennial. However, there’s plenty of older pilots I’ve seen at all legacies do the same exact thing.

If you want better pilot you need a better training department.
It’s that simple.....well not quite.
You can train but you can’t change attitude.

The joke around our airline is we dont need to fire our worst/problem children pilots. Spirit will take care of it. Our best guys/gals keep getting rejected and they keep hiring the worst. I’m not sure Spirit’s HR is doing it on purpose or they are just that talented.

This is so true. I went to three job fairs, four years of A320 experience overseas, Master's degree, at the time I applied last three years of 121 time. Yet, Spirit said no. Someone suggested that this was because they're afraid I'd jump to a major. Well, if that is indeed the thinking process at Spirit hiring department, what they are doing is effectively building an inferior airline: if you're a Delta material, you're too good for us. If we see a clear United reject, welcome aboard. I may be oversimplifying but it certainly feels that way. Left a bitter taste in my mouth. Glad you guys finally got a decent contract.

I have several buddies who are far more qualified than I am who have been turned down by Spirit. Our hiring department makes the Trump administration look organized and professional.
