FOs getting defensive that CAs don’t trust them to do the old CA goes
CAs not wanting FOs to do their old flows
Battle begins in 3....2.....1....
I’ll make a deal, I’ll do the walk around as CA of the FO wants to deal with the crap we always have to deal with like release issues, fuel numbers, alternate numbers, jacked up log book requiring a call.
I know the walk around is still the discretion of the Ca, but usually the Ca should be handling all the other crap left to us up front.
Not that FOs can’t do it, they shouldn’t have to do it. They don’t get paid enough on some of this junk. Especially with fuel numbers dropping and making the call saying you’re adding 2000 pounds and you don’t care if they (dispatch) like it or not

Seriously? The previous before start checklist wasn’t started until door closed and cabin ready. So now it’s the same process but maybe 6 or 7 additional lines to say on the checklist. This will cause you to be late?

It’s a checklist that takes maybe 15 seconds to complete.... it can’t be that big of an issue. If you can’t manage to plug in numbers and do a checklist while the cabin crew is closing and arming that’s on you.
