Sounds like some emails are going out. I’ve heard of one “try again in 6 months” so far.

Had a friend that was there the 7th get a try again email too. Not sure why they invited these guys, let them travel all the way to Seattle just to say try again. They had their info, he’s a good guy so it wasn’t an issue with the face to face. HR gonna HR.

So you can’t expect all face to face interviews to get hired; this is a multi million dollar career, flying multi million dollar aircraft with hundreds of passengers aboard. So yes, that’s the exact reason why he “has to” fly out, to meet and talk with the applicant and see if they are a suitable hire. I’m sure he is a good friend, HR isn’t hiring friends. He can reapply or keep applying at other airlines; maybe take an interview prep class, and it will work out in the future. |

There are plenty of qualified people getting the TBNT email. The days of just showing up and getting hired are over.

I know alot on this forum will feel hard done or bitter about the hiring. I will say one thing for sure about Spirit Airlines, their hiring criteria or selection of pilots is surprising. And I say this because they just hired a guy I know who was not flying in the US for the last 5 yrs because he complained of how airline pay sucked here and how pilots get treated badly here. He goes overseas for few yrs chasing heavy metal and then complains how airlines are crap overseas and cant work in a toxic culture and wants to come back once he fills his bank. He comes back to the USA and goes to a regional collects the bonus after IOE and applies to Spirit and Spirit hires him. And yet the guys and girls here who work hard, paid their dues and are loyal to their country and companies here, not all but some great personalities get turned down by places like Spirit. But yet airlines like Spirit who should question their credibility and loyalty hire them. Sounds very disheartening for the hard working pilots here in the country but this is how this game is played. But it is funny, how airlines here become fooled by players like these .

There is no rules against getting hired back in the states after leaving. In fact, Spirit has hired many pilots with international experience from places like Columbia and the Caribbean; as well as expats who worked in Afghanistan. Perhaps Spirit feels pilots with experience outside of the lower 48 will be an asset to the company? I guess I could start a similar thread about how I couldn’t get hired at a Legacy as easily as someone named “Britany757”. Honestly with your complaining on a forum like this, it makes sense why possibly your application was passed over. |
