Spirit Left Deceased Passenger Uncovered
Nurse Claims Spirit Airlines Crew Left Deceased Passenger UncoveredA nurse says Spirit Airlines needs to have more sensitivity training of its employees when it comes to emergencies.Nathalie Albino was traveling from Fort Lauderdale to Juan Santamaría International Airport in Costa Rica on Friday night when she helped assist with an 83-year old woman in distress. The woman died after 35 minutes of CPR but Spirit left her uncovered in the same seat while fellow passengers had to walk by. Albino said they requested a blanket to cover the woman’s corpse, but the crew did not provide one. “We had to take her sweater off of her and physically put it over her head,” Albino said, according to Local10.com. Albino said they also requested to move the body away from the other passengers, but a flight attendant allegedly told her, ‘No we have to buckle her back into her seat,’” Albino said. “It was pretty disrespectful,” said Albino’s fiancé, Jonathan Bunda, who was also on the flight. “You know, imagine if it was your mother or grandmother.” Albino also claimed that when the flight landed, all passengers – including children – were forced to walk past the woman’s body. But Spirit Airlines spokesman Erik Hofmeyer refuted some of those claims. “We deplaned first (because) that was what we were required to do by (Costa Rican) law,” he said. “Saying that we forced people (out of the plane first) is a flat-out lie.” Hofmeyer also noted that Spirit flight attendants are trained to handle medical emergencies and that the flight did not divert elsewhere because at the time of the emergency it was closest to Costa Rica. |
Anything goes for news these days.
I guess we need to carry blankets on the plane for this and teach FAs to drape it over someone. :confused:But then they will be vilified for throwing a blanket on a deceased passenger and that would be called disrespectful. Technically the passenger isn’t even deceased until a doctor declares it, right?? |
They said plane continued on its flight Costa Rica for nearly an hour after she was declared dead, and passengers had to walk past her body as they left the plane |
...Which would have put them over the sea near the honduran border. What a real treat a diversion for medical to Havana or San Pedro Sula would have been 🙄. frugal doctor to be flying NK though

I wouldn't cover up an apparently deceased pax, or stop CPR, probably get accused of causing their death by smothering. Leave that to the proper authorities (I'm not sure if that's a random doc flying as a pax, who may have even had a few drinks).

Spirit Left Deceased Passenger Uncovered
Who decided that not covering the dead as ordered to do so by a nurse that has ceased CPR is “disrespectful” of the dead?
“2 Samuel 20:12 (KJV) And Amasa wallowed in blood in the midst of the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he removed Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a cloth upon him, when he saw that every one that came by him stood still.” If this is the origin of covering the dead it is NOT out of respect but to alleviate delay in passing soldiers. What evidence do you have for the origin?
