Default Wearing a mask if you’re working now?

For those of you doing our few flights right now are you wearing a mask when out and about?

In my town masks are required to enter the businesses that are open. I don’t remember spirit saying we should do this just that they allowed it.

Im 100% for reopening parts of the economy sooner than later and some portions immediately. Common sense solutions obviously observed. Hand washing etc. However, even with the airports empty we work in very close proximity with people especially FAs and gate agents. Being six feet away isn’t possible.

So as more of us get back in the fold next month what’s the plan for face coverings. I can’t find a box of masks for the life of me and when I go to the grocery etc at home I wear a sun face shield. These are common in fishing but have to be worn up the back of your head to stay on correctly and they also carry different designs I don’t feel are appropriate for being in uniform.

Everyone in town seems to have a surgical mask that loops over the ears. Did they buy boxes long ago and are rewearing individual masks day after day? That seems pretty gross and counterproductive. So where do we get one?

We have to get on with life and living with this virus is going to be a fact until a vaccine is widely distributed. So IMO having a mask available is something we need to be thinking about and wearing one should be mandatory for the FAs and agents while on duty if not every passenger. What is spirit doing to get us masks? If nothing, where do I find one?

Never wore a mask, not going to start. Been to all the hot spots. Might have already had the virus I don't know. The hospitals have plenty of beds and this is turning out to be less burdensome than the flu. I'll take my chances. A basic face mask will not stop this virus, it will just make you feel safe. Fear is controlling everyone right now but not me. Mother nature will run it's course hunkering down just prolongs the inevitable. Build up your immunity, take vitamin C, stay away from your overweight diabetic mothers till they can vaccinate.

Fair enough but fact is that I have to have it to get groceries or get take out or go to Lowe’s. Wearing the sun buff works all day fishing but on and off in my car and store is a PITA. Can’t find a mask.

Even if it does make only make you feel good that’s exactly what we need to do. All the FAs and CSAs should have one on if nothing but to make the passengers feel good

Get out your Halloween masks, and have some fun with it. I've got a Trump mask I've been wanting to try out. What state are you in? Some states recommend and some stores think it's a requirement, just as the 6 feet thing. I get yelled at a lot for being 5'11" just to be a pain.

While one can argue the effectiveness of these masks until the end of time, the bottom line is most, of not all, states are requiring you to wear one while out in the public around other people. No, you don’t need to wear one when out for a run or walking Fido, yes you need one to enter Target or Kroger.

The company came out with guidelines maybe two weeks ago; you’re not required to wear a mask while sitting up front, but if you’re interacting with customers you’re required to wear one.

An entire cottage industry has sprung up overnight making these. I’m sure a quick google search or scanning of your local Craigslist ads you’ll find someone locally who’s cranking them out from their homes or local businesses.

Amazon now has them back in stock. While “disposable” you can easily hose them down with some alcohol spray and reuse them once dry many times over.

Or just find a few nice washable cloth ones.

Its really not that big of a deal.

Masks don't keep you from getting the virus (unless they are N95s), they help keep you from spreading it to others.

Thanks for being so thoughtful of your fellow employees.

You're just the kind of brain dead a-hole the experts have been trying to get through to. "Been to all the hot spots" "Might have already had the virus". And yet don't give a flying fuk if you infect others.

Yep. Brain dead a-hole indeed.

Meh, still not convinced it’s all that bad or contagious. I did a 6 leg 2-day trip (got symptoms on day 2) and my F/O got tested and tested negative for it. Don’t see how it could be all that contagious if he didn’t get it. We shared the flightdeck & all of its buttons for almost 20hrs.......
