If we were about to furlough, wouldn’t they drop the current new hires? They have new hires in sims this week

I hear this a lot. There’s a stark difference between Spirit making it through this and you personally making it through this. It doesn’t help you much that Spirit is doing great if you’re furloughed.

Things would be a lot worse if you never have the chance to return because your airline goes under. Let’s be frank, there’s a couple giant airlines probably immune to that, after that it’s a small but very real possibility for the LCCs/ULCC’s. On the other hand, a furlough at a domestic and leisure only airline would be fairly quick I think. Much quicker than some of the others that handle 50% business traffic.
