I wonder if lawyer and dr forums have post like this for used jackets.
“Hi I’m an new ER dr in Seattle, anyone have a used Columbia fleece?” New doctors are generally as poorly paid as first year NK FOs, but the ones I know mostly wear scrubs from the surgery suite locker room. And while lawyers from the top tier law schools do quite OK, those from third tier schools don’t do real great either and can’t even wear scrubs to court: https://i.ibb.co/19ZmmWs/F09-E5221-A...5-C56-A372.jpg |

Yeah, why should anyone wear a uniform. Let’s just wear whatever Costco has in their bargain bin.

It’s really not that hard. If they don’t have the piece available, you ask your boss what his plan is. If he says “wear Costco” then wear Costco, they write the manuals. But if I were probationary, I would like to get my boss’ views before I color outside the lines. No matter how much forum folk say to do it. |

Sounds like an awesome question for your chief pilot. They write the manuals, theymake the rules. If someone can’t get a new jacket within 3 months, sounds like it’s an easy email to Rodosta and ask what his office wants pilots to do. Seems if I were a probationary pilot I would much rather get the answer from my boss vs going Costco because the interwebs said so.

Is this a thing in your base now or something? New hires specifically getting punished for uniform non compliance? I’ve literally never heard of this besides your single post here in over 5 years.

no….new hire FO’s leaving in droves. No shows in classes now. They don’t care as long as you show up to work looking somewhat like a pilot. Let them know how you feel during your exit interview in your way out to a legacy.

The question was “what’s the poor new FO supposed to do if they can’t get a jacket”. I said, “ask the CP and see what his plan is since he writes these manuals and knows there are no jacket”. |

Does Spirit still do Perrone leather jackets?
If you buy a leather or Karbon as a newhire, you can submit for expense reimbursement after 36 month. It’s ridiculous they make you wait, even more ridiculous is after 3 years you have to wait 6 years for your next leather or Karbon reimbursement. One thing Jblue has, that we should keep, is uniform allowance vs the crap reissue we get every 18 months |

Curious who on here has done it and what they did… |

Roger. What’s the best way to repurpose my leather jacket from my regional? I’ve worn it literally zero times. Is it just a different patch?

Probably a good question for Perrone but I know they are backed up. Curious who on here has done it and what they did… It’s the main reason I went for it before the Karbon jacket was a “thing”, because you can remove the wings and it’s just a low key leather bomber you can wear on cold layovers. Downside is it’s heavy to tote and once in a stuffy terminal it can get juicy wearing it to avoid carrying. |
Just as a heads up, the “brand” department at b6 has more power than the B6 VP of flight ops. They axed the leather jacket, flight ops tried to get the karbon approved, got shot down, so B6 ended up with a Kim Jong Un wool overcoat (horrible for a pilot overcoat) and a $300 ($150 at macys or Amazon when it was in stock) all weather jacket (hart Schaffer Marx hartsdale or something like that). The obviously non-pilot B6 uniform people who live in a cubicle in NYC have the most atrocious taste, and they are cheap as hell so the quality of the uniforms is terrible. So, you have that to look forward to. Guess the point is, enjoy the Karbon and leather and normal uniforms while you can. If the merger goes through, you have a career full of uniform (among other) frustration to look forward to.

There’s no exterior patch on the Spirit leather jacket, just some grommets to affix your wings. Patch on the inside with your name and employee number for lost and found.

And no, I wouldn’t give up a damn thing for it. Try a nonnegotiable demand - after they’ve bought the NK shares. Bet it’ll work. |

Do not do this! And yes people care. There are three approved jacket options. It doesn’t have to be the Karbon. You don’t just wear whatever bc you don’t like the blazer or the leather jacket.
Or “care” as in you’ll awkwardly confront them about dressing and looking the part as a professional while wearing your stained unironed oversized shirt that still can’t hide your paunch, unhemmed pants and scuffed up pleather slip ons? And if this doesn’t describe you, and you’re hell bent on single-handedly cleaning up the group’s image, I’ve just described the targets you should be going after. |

So what is a new hire that comes on the line in December to use when their jackets are backlogged 3 months? I had to use my black north face jacket for over a month waiting on my winter jacket to arrive. I know when I joined Envoy (shivers) many years ago, a box full of winter jackets and uniforms showed up at my front porch. Hell they even had us get fitted. It the airline cares that much about how the uniform looks or if you have the right jacket, they need to be the ones providing them in a timely manner.
I did three winters in just the blazer. You’re outside for five minutes a day when on duty. It’s fine. |

I did three winters in just the blazer. You’re outside for five minutes a day when on duty. It’s fine. I get why someone doesn’t want to order a blazer while they wait for a Karbon. I get why guys wear a pullover jacket on walk arounds while waiting for their Karbon. I don’t get why people don’t order any jacket and think a fleece zip up is ok to wear in the terminal. As Sioux said, staying warm while outside the terminal isn’t what anyone is talking about. |
So like I said there are three jacket options to wear while in uniform and one is available now. There is zero reason to be “doing your own thing” uniform wise.

Plus side when it arrives you’ll be able to get reimbursed for your order right away |
I ordered one (medium size) on July 22, it shipped on 9/10. So it’s a 7 week wait.

Mine shipped today. I ordered 1-2 months ago and was reimbursed 1-2 months ago as well. Complaining about not having a winter jacket for work is like saying you haven’t eaten all day at work. It’s your fault…
