Flights back to normal?

Guys,

My friend has a ticket for his 16 year old daughter to fly on Spirit tomorrow and is freaking out because of the news about recent flights being cancelled at Spirit and American.

Realizing most if not all airlines are tight on crews is Spirit pretty much back to standards Ops?

Thanks Scoop

No. Check out flight aware. https://flightaware.com/live/cancelled/

ShyGuy 08-05-2021 09:34 AM

What happened to start and prolong this event?

Who knows when the system will finally be "reset". Whenever the cancellation package is ran over night, it would shoot up to over 50% of the operation. I hope she's not connecting because chances are she'll never start the trip or get stuck somewhere mid trip.

Spirit seems to have gone radio silent with customers. Strange way to handle this type of situation. They could at least attempt to provide some guidance.

Spirit is at 52% canceled today. AA is at 1% (at the time that I looked).

I'm curious is well. Only have heard the trash spewed by media outlets...

If anyone can add insight it'd be appreciated.

Is there any words of encouragement to say during these trying times?

Yes!

A recent unnamed executive, Christine Richards, received her 5000 shares right on time!

Let us celebrate!

I'm in the same boat so I preemptively bought tickets on WN. There's a connection involved as opposed to Spirit's direct but if the Spirit flight doesn't cancel, WN will let you cancel up to 10 minutes prior to departure for a full refund with their anytime fare.

update those logbooks

As others have mentioned this won’t end up a big deal for Spirit. A year from now and a few 9 dollar ticket sales and all will be forgiven. Where it may have a impact on low cost airlines is new rules that come out of this. They may be required under law to rebook passengers on other airlines and provide hotels. This would be a significant cost item for airlines that don’t already do this as a matter of policy and because it’s the right thing to do.

I think it's absurd that we don't have any other interline agreements...

You don’t actually need inter line agreements. SWA I have watched on several occasions move large blocks of passengers over to other airlines after a flight cancelation. The pick up the phone or walk over to other airlines and block the needed seats. They walk a check over to pay for the seats.

I’ve seen Spirit do that before. They aren’t against doing it. Problem is how do you rebook a canceled flight of 180 passengers on other airlines when those airlines are fully booked as well.

Preemptive cancelations are down today vs previous days. Hopefully they get it straight over the weekend

CEO finally came out with a statement yesterday. Stranded pilots caused by initial IROPS had a domino effect as nobody was in position to work flights. Combined with gate agents/ground personnel walking off the job due to the fact that flying customers are just the worst these days. Not worth it for that money. Said it will take another week to fully recover.

stranded “crews”, not stranded pilots

Thanks. I have always agreed the semantical clarification on internet message boards is of the upmost importance. Even more important then checking the expiration date before buying milk.

Its being corrected because “Crew” includes FLIGHT ATTENDANTS, where “pilots” does not.

I'm sorry that triggered you. Do I get canceled now?

CincoDeMayo 08-07-2021 06:07 AM

Cancelations down again from yesterday. Looks like they are slowing getting things together. (Only took a week) to get to 100+ cancelations 🙄

I'm not debating it, you are. Triggered now snowflake? Why don't you get AOC and the squad to cancel me because I wasn't all inclusive and respectful to other's feelings. What pronouns do you go by? They/Them? God forbid offend you further.

I hope there is a safe room with puppies to pet nearby for you to recover over this severe triggering.
