Reserve Life in LAS
 

Looks like LAS is getting 25 more FOs in the next bid and I might be one of them. Would love to hear from folks that have lived the reserve life there as to what people are doing for accommodations, transportation, schedules, etc. Just any tips on making the commuting to reserve (not moving in base, but thanks) at LAS more manageable. Thanks!

I did it for a month. I got an Airbnb and a residential bus pass for 30 days. There’s crashpads available and a courtyard with a crew rate. I did R18. It’s commutable and they can’t really use you on the last day. Makes commuting easier.

Bid “will fly” as a commuter and buy cheap hotels if you need them. Most of your day one will be commutable but plan on doing a red eye so commute accordingly to be rested.

^^This. Courtyard Henderson Green Valley has a special rate for Spirit pilots.

They do. Early check in. Late check out. Microwave and fridge in the room and an airport shuttle.

One thing I will add as well: Most of the time, they will put the trip on your schedule well ahead of your duty period, so if it works in your advantage, you can self notify and then you're off the hook until the trip report time. For example, you are on R18 and duty on at 1800. You wake up at 1200 and check your schedule and see you have a trip that starts at 2200. You can now self notify and you have no obligation to the company until 2200. This will make your commute a lot better on day 1.

This is also very true. Commuting to reserve sucks, but overall this wasn’t a bad deal when I was doing it.

This is true, just know that your duty time will now start at 2200 and not 1800.

Yes this true. Helpful for for a commuter most likely but you will time out much later in most instances should you get delayed

Heard the Bunny Ranch has decent crash pad rates. The "amenities" are expensive though.
