BUR-LAS Scenic Route. WTF???

Any NK'ers have any insight on WTF is going on here? Flights on both sides operated normally.

https://flightaware.com/live/flight/...702Z/KBUR/KLAS

Also, tomorrows flight is filed the exact same way.

The pilot group still voted it in..

Not for a restraining order

Certainly an interesting route. As someone who frequents that route, I can only think that every restricted airspace was active, even then that's wild. Hope no one had a connection but I'm sure they missed it lol.

Rroku 02-27-2022 07:15 AM

If they do it at 18,000 I'll take a window seat on a sunny day

Was probably just an over-fueled aircraft that needed to burn extra fuel en route versus defuel in order to be below MLW.

Possibly even a last second MX swap.

Yeah, that has MX swap written all over it, to a plane with too much fuel.

Pilot4000 03-01-2022 03:57 PM

What kind of inspection is needed for an overweight landing? That would probably be quicker than flying around for hours.

It doesn’t matter what it any inspections are required. What matters is that a plane may not be dispatched unless it is going to be below the max landing weight at the point of landing. You cannot simply land above that weight for convenience and write it up upon arrival. Mechanical or medical diversion would be a different story.

Haha. What FlyDiamond said; you really think the company can dispatch a plane with a known landing weight thousands of pounds overweight, because it’s just a sign off?

Jyri, is that you?

mechanics did the overweight landing inspection last night in 15 minutes, All they did was pull a load 15 report and found that lateral and vertical acceleration at the moment of landing was within limits…. Then they signed it off….

brakes however, took 2 hours to cool to the point where we could taxi again at a station that had no brake fans

Inspection after an overweight landing at BURBANK?

Ask SWA:

OK, guess that was a stupid question.

Would make sense if it was LAS-BUR, but this is BUR-LAS.

Minepza 03-02-2022 03:42 AM

Why would they be flying at FL380 to burn off fuel?

Ouch, good point. Didn’t see that.

How about…fueler in Burbank was so busy on the “Gram” that he fueled the plane to 40,000 pounds instead of 10,000 pounds.

That “gram” be distracting people

turbojet28 03-02-2022 07:26 AM

Maybe there was a sigmet for severe turbulence on the more direct route and they didn’t want to risk it.

Halon1211 03-02-2022 09:20 AM

I heard that their was an reports aliens and UFO’s along the route and they didn’t want to risk it.

Yeah. About a week ago. Love three rampers right under it doing nothing to stop it.

These are the same type of rampers who stand directly in front of a cart in the safety zone and don’t understand why we won’t taxi in
