There is no difference. Marger is a term that includes both being purchased and entities just joining forces. United technically bought Continental, but it was a “merger”. ALPA Merger policy is the governing process either way.

I’m also hoping that by the time I turn 60 that I can drop trips and fly only 8 days a month (or less, as I’m a lazy pilot) to cover my health insurance.
People also like to drop and take time off without using vacation, drop their whole schedule and re-build it, or drop and hope to be called for some premium pay trips.
We can also pickup trips in other bases, which can be helpful as a commuter.

JetBlue was probably looking at picking up planes and pilots. But lots of pilots seem to like to work part time.
im a work 3 4-day trips kind of pilot and hoping to work less as less as I get closer to 60.

The ability to drop our month to zero (as long as there is enough reserve coverage). For example, I commute and only like to work three 4 day trips that are commutable. This typically only yields 63-68 hours of credit per month which will not generate a schedule in PBS (the min credit window is usually around 70 hours per month). PBS will then throw in an extra trip to generate a line. I will then drop said trip.

As much as I love drop to zero, and I use it, it's totally dependent on reserve coverage, even in IOT. With attrition the way it is, it's going to be impossible going forward.
Long view, B6 is a better pairing for us. We are going to have to drag F9 up to us- pay, rules, etc. (I love you F9 guys, just being pragmatic, here). B6 already has the better pay, we have the rules, and both groups are committed and have the backbone to not taking any feces from management. We're ****ed and ready to brawl. For the long haul CBA fight that looms ahead, it's a stronger team.

Who we merge with is out of our control. Obviously, JB product is better. Let our voices be heard when a JCBA vote comes our way.
