Before you leave

If y'all would be so kind to bid out of DFW/DTW/ORD/ACY before you leave that would mean a lot to many New Hires/Captain Upgrades trying to get to these bases. This goes for FOs and Captains. I wish you all the best in your retirement/new position but please leave the slot open for those that are hopeful B6 will keep from shrinking the base and those that would rather not commute. IAH will help the DFW guys but help your coworkers with one last act of selflessness.

considering the bid runs two months in advance, I doubt people who are leaving with CJOs are going to do that for you.

So you put in your notice on August 20, you can still bid. If you're about to retire you can bid. I'd guess those With 'C'JOs can think ahead enough to throw in a vacancy bid before they leave.

CincoDeMayo 08-01-2022 06:16 AM

It’s a great idea, but it won’t happen. I just don’t see any pilot volunteering to give up their base, 2 months before leaving, and risk a delayed class date with their new airline, a canceled class date, a revoked job offer, etc

BeechedJet 08-01-2022 07:11 AM

Didn’t bendo say in the town hall the software issue is figured out and they’re going to run the displacements soon?

MCDUmanipulator 08-01-2022 07:15 AM

Yeah this is pointless. Displacement bids coming soon.

CincoDeMayo 08-01-2022 07:21 AM

They did mention IAH by end of the year. If this displacement happens 9/20, that will be a 12/1 effective date. Curious if it would be more effective to run a displacement involving a bunch of DFW CAs at the same time you run a IAH vacancy. Might be quite a few DFW guys who want IAH, minimizing the need from displacing from the bottom in DFW.

sure will do!🫡

Also, if you're retiring before the effective date, please don't bid into ATL and take a spot away from another pilot wishing to bid in. What a douche...

Or the other way of looking at it…it was done so they wouldn’t take a CA slot away in ACY and someone who’s been waiting months or years in ACY to hold that slot could get it. He was taking care of his own. Far from being a douche.

There will be plenty more ATL slots. Get over it.

I think he was a good dude for what he did and hope he has a great retirement. I also hope we act to be more unified going forward. Did it make you feel better to say that?

When are they leaving? What are they leaving? Where are they going? When will they arrive? What will they do when they get there? When will they return? Will they return? Everyone is leaving, but not everyone has left; yet?

DrSteveBrule 08-01-2022 11:24 AM

Wah. Got another guy a ca seat in a base that otherwise wouldnt have. He held the seniority to do whatever he wanted, so suck it up.

Right on. Helped a brother out for sure. The company most likely would have reduced the position.

Now we're good with what he says? On Mar 20th they thought the kinks were worked out, too. I think for the next couple years us that stay should look after our own.

Hadn't looked at it through that lens. I was wrong and apologize.

You guys think the displacement is still coming? Many were under the impression that the displacement was at the behest of frontier. Now that JetBlue is the new dance partner will they call it off?

Granted, they already changed our flying in the displacement bases to fly one leg to southern bases, do the rest of the trip out of there, then one leg home.

I think is definitely going to happen. They said just 3 days ago it’s still going to happen and it’s getting close to being ready to put out. I don’t agree at all that the need to realign bases was at the behest of Frontier. I hope people in displaced bases don’t think this has gone away because Franke is gone.

What JetBlue does with base staffing in a few years IF/When this gets approved, is another question.

Honest question: If the displacement wasn't for frontiers grand vision of a southern strip of bases that fly north and south then what was it for? Don't tell me its about the market in ORD, DTW, and DAL. The company has purposefully reduced the departures in those cities and every flight is oversold. You could double departures and I bet every flight would still be profitable.

Yup. That must be it. Company is still losing money but they could double departures in these bases and be profitable. 🙄

I highly doubt your assessment is close to being accurate because you’re basing it on speculation, and I assume, a little subjective based on you being in one of these bases.
But even if they can make a profit in these bases, the company has always, always, stated that they would not hesitate to move assets to other routes if they can make more money on other routes. This goes back to BBB, and probably hasn’t changed. If they can make $2 profit in market A vs $1 profit in market B, they will make the move if the numbers support it.

But you shouldn’t worry. Since you’re so set on this being a Frontier derived plan, you have nothing to worry about. Disregard what they said a few days ago, I’m sure it’s all over with now that Franke is out of the picture. Sadly I think you’ll be disappointed

Guess you missed the part where I said "honest question". Or are you just always a condescending know it all?

Wait, you have access to spirit's detailed finances? Is that how you know they are specifically losing money in the reduction bases? Why didn't they reduce them 5 years ago? Why did they grow them? Was it just a coincidence that they announced the merger and the reductions at the same time?

Not based on speculation btw. I fly in and out of these bases and every flight is oversold. Deadheads have become miserable.

Hilarious. You can’t say “I said ‘honest question’ and then continue with your own condescending tone. Doesn’t work like that. It’s like saying “with all due respect, your mama is ugly,” it doesn’t work.

So you deadheading gives you the financial insight that you were just trying to give me crap about? Haha

Hey, just because planes are full, doesn’t mean they are profitably? Probably a pretty damn good chance they are full because we are having to compete so hard against AA and dropping fares to fill seats, as AA price matches us and takes a willing loss.

And your first question, I’ll happily be a “condescending know it all” towards someone who thinks
1)A reduction bid is only from Frontier and nothing to do with Spirit
2) You Deadheading and seeing full planes means they could double the flights and remain profitable in the shrinking bases.

But what do you have to worry about? You believe this is all because of Frontier, Frontier is gone, so why should you worry about the displacement, right? The bid software failing was just a lie by the company and union and they won’t be bringing it back soon, as reported a few days ago. You have nothing to worry about, all Frontier.

Way too many fumes absorbed on those deadheads, I fear.

youre having a fume event of your own, it seems.

BeechedJet 08-02-2022 10:12 AM

This is how I see it, if a company official is saying something is going to absolutely happen after it’s already happened before, I have to plan for that. I can’t plan my career around “I bet they’re full of sh*t”.

I answered clearly.

You need to seek help for the fumes.

Oh I remember you. You realize when you do this thing where you pretend like your point of view is so obviously correct that you refuse to back it up it just makes you look like you have no idea what you are talking about.

The intellectually honest out there will understand my point if they actually think about my questions.

You have derailed. I’ll leave it at that and the “intellectually honest” who wish to deal with your illogical theories, happy hunting.
