Oh and to answer your question
From the bid packs: IAH ALV for March was 76:30 ATL ALV for March was 76:43 |
Spirit has a low min day and trip averaging for pay, so it’s hard to credit a lot consistently, unless you want to have 10 days off per month. The more X list you pick up, the lower on the list you go, so you diminishing returns there.
With that said, with the attrition and skeleton crews they run, if you live in base, you should be able to get lots of x list and be able to move your schedule around to pick up x list when you’re off reserve, but you can’t count on it. |
Starting class soon looking to get some feed back on what lines look like out of FLL, IAH, and ATL. Will be commuting from CLT. What do you recommend for the most doable and reasonable commute. All bases have plenty of flights from multiple carriers just looking for the flights that would be commutable on the front and back end. Thanks for any feed back.

Reserve is not really commutable, maybe long call but just a handful of those lines and they usually go senior. Fortunately with growth and attrition most new hires move into a line quickly in junior bases. Day turns go very senior, but night red eye turns do not, fortunately those are commutable. We have preferential bidding, so lines are what you get when it gets to you, but even junior line holders have opportunities to swap out with open time and a lot of pilots never actually fly the lines they were awarded, but again this is base dependent. Your best bet is to find a cheap crash pad for the first few months until you get acclimated.
Good information thanks for that. Out of those 3 do you know which one I'd be able to hold first? I believe I seen iah? Furthermore on that question do you know which base would have the most commutable line. Thanks for your time |
For company open time as simple as pressing pickup online? or is it put your name down and scheduling calls?
Thanks for the info! |

Thanks for the info! If you are a line holder then yes, login to Flica - peruse all the 14hr pay 4 day red-eyes that nobody else wants and hit the ADD button. |

Not quite the case. I get plenty of good trips in open time each month. ORD FO.

Speaking of schedules, is Flica running incredibly slow for you guys in the past few months? It’s been awful at JB to the point of being unable to log in, view open time, process trip swaps, etc.
