Is it even possible for the company to change the business model though?
I'm kinda half joking and half serious. Before the pandemic I actually believed that our economy was based off of free market capitalism, but honestly I'm not so sure anymore. At this point it seems that the government is able to meddle freely in anything and everything without pushback. Like if Spirit decided to switch to a model akin to Southwest, does anyone else feel like the government could step in and force us to stay a ULCC? I feel like Judge Young was hinting at it in a roundabout way. SPIRIT WILL FLY THE POORS AND THEY WILL LIKE IT! |

the last thing we want is that level of centralized government meddling. Any such program would be an absolute disaster for this career. The more the government gets involved, the more they’ll dick it up. The first thing they’d try to do in that scenario is lower pilot pay. The public won’t care about a bunch of rich dudes getting a haircut, and the government won’t care what the long term ramifications are. Contrary to what anyone says, the free market economy is a shadow of its former self. that Ship has sailed. |

Contrary to what anyone says, the free market economy is a shadow of its former self. that Ship has sailed. but feel free to keep on dreaming for a bailout. |
If not for covid, legacies likely never make such a firm pivot to economy plus.

that's a small part of it. but most pax are tired of the terrible ULCC. Spirit, Frontier and Allegiant are in for a rude and well deserved awakening. horrendous companies. it was bound to happen eventually. Hopefully they wil be all gone and this profession is back to being respectable. ULCC hurt the profession.
Also most of the rebound was international... I second the opinion of stop smelling your own farts and believing theyre potpourri. |

Son, the issue with ULCCs has nothing to do with Covid. Spirit and Frontier could end tomorrow and the economy wouldn’t skip a beat. Sorry to whiz in your cheerios.
but feel free to keep on dreaming for a bailout. Telling everyone to stay home for 2 years to stomp the curve, and then throwing godknows how much money at the airlines to avoid furloughs, is certainly meddling. and who is whizing in anyone’s cheerios? It’s just a statement of what’s happened. Chill out. bro it wasn’t an attack on you or spirit. |

When Atnt merged with someone forget who, Eric Holder threatened to sue to block it until Atnt agreed to phone plans for poor people out of their own pocket with no government funding. He then dropped the suit. If the DOJ wants something JetBlue and Spirit will have a closed door meeting and DOJ will drop suit. The DOJ can always maintain their current position, but they will likely see the potential outcome more clearly if they do. JetBlue is obligated to appeal, and the DOJ can drop the suit and “force” Spirt on them if they think the winds have shifted. Part of me thinks the hedge funds that have the largest position in Spirt are intentionally getting their wall street friends to hype the BK, so they can convince the DOJ of the urgency in appeal. There is definitely an element of theatrics at play. This is all heavy Wall Street moving, the Spirt price is $7.50 and the purchase price is $32.50 if and a slam dunk if DOJ drops the suit everyone is getting there people lined up for a payday. They are in control of a 15 minute 400% ROI. The DOJ is figuring out how to buy 100,000 shares of Spirit without getting caught. |

Former NK here. I’m really sorry to hear about the news there. I thought, for sure, the merger was a done deal. I really feel for you guys having to worry about what the next move will be. Blue skies to all of you and I wish nothing but the best. The NK pilot group is phenomenal.

Most of our pilot group is probably the polar opposite of what HR looks for, but we're the most fun to work with and drink with on layovers compared to what I've heard from other airline pilots in various hotel bars. Nobody cares about your new zero turn radius lawnmower. We want to argue about who had the hottest chicks on their boat last weekend (with proof of course!) |

Quick question from an outsider who knows nothing about the NEO. You guys seem to be hit hard with the engine issues. Is this a problem only with engines produced between certain dates, or is it an ongoing concern for current and future deliveries?
