Same rumor I heard, no new bases this year. Bendo was quite adamant about that and so was JS during recurrent. BUT, I am fully expecting IAH as a base next year, it just makes no sense not making it into a base with the growth and type of flying we're doing out of IAH.
Classes have jumped up to 28/month. By the time a new hire finishes training, he or she has between 40 and 60 people below them on the seniority list. Growth is happening quickly. The latest base bids have most new hires going to DTW for their first bid, that all changes very quickly and any base is attainable within 2-3 months.

Training is not easy. First couple weeks is a firehose. Good training though. If you are new to the bus and don't have any glass or fms time it will be a struggle. People do fail events but most make it through. In the last couple of classes I hear of one guy not making it. They are big on flows, callouts, memory items, and limitations. You will be typed from the left seat and have to learn all flows from both sides. Good times.
