Captains are very upset that FO”s are upgrading in under 2 years Can someone explain to me how someone acting PIC of a 737 is any more difficult / unsafe than someone who is PIC of a CRJ200?
Bigger plane , more complex? Flying a CRJ200 without all the automation and lack of performance in and out of podank airports is a lot more challenging than flying the 73.. I don’t think some captains here can fly a plane without VNAV or have heart attacks disconnecting the AP on a visual.
Most of the FO”s upgrading too have had prior 121 PIC experience, or have flown a few years at 121 carriers before sunny.
kudos to all the people upgrading and actually wanting to move on in life

Preach it
It just comes down to the mentality of, “I had to do it, so should you!” But I will say I have flown with mostly really great captains at Sunny and the bitter old crusty guys seem to be in the minority.

There have been several recent LOA's addressing different issues. Nothing on commuters so far. More are on the way, but we haven't been getting info until they are sent out. One could hope that some of the LOA's in the pipeline are addressing reserve rules and commuter policies but we really won't know until we have it in hand.
Edit: The short answer is no.

ALPA isn't very big in the ACMI marketplace and only does two larger carriers now, and only about 3 years in. Virtually all of the ALPA pilot groups jumpseat. We really don't want to join them, but it does explain why it wasn't really on their radar for negotiations.

Exactly. All the pre-covid stuff is a big nevermind at this point.
New helpful LOAs and contract talk is probably going to have to start from scratch. We are likely to have resumes stacks to the ceiling this fall. However, imo things are going to do an about face quicker than many are saying, for the industry as a whole that is. As long as furloughing is going on, that effects us, even if we are hiring, because it will be easy to get pilots.

Yeah, you guys need to do something. Both you and Mesa now do not provide home basing to their pilots doing ACMI flying. To let something like that go was a huge huge mistake.

I think this was covered. If the pilot is not operating the flight either starting or finishing a trip in or out of MSP there is always a purchased offline ticket or in the case of a car ride a LYFT or a limo. Yes I have taken a Limo from La Crosse and Madison Wisconsin, as well as Duluth to MSP. It is never the pilots responsibility to get to a trip that doesn’t start in MSP, the company picks up the tab on that one.
