Per the contract, hotels are AAA 3 diamond or better so they're usually pretty decent. We had a couple of lousy hotels last year but I think those have mostly been resolved.
Locations can vary, but more often than not we're out by the airport and not downtown. Not my favorite spot to hang out, but everyone's different. The Florida locations all have a bunch of places to eat within easy walking distance, nice pools and are generally pleasant.
On charters things can be more of a mixed bag, location-wise. The hotels are usually fine, but the locations can run the gamut from nothing at all around to smack-dab in the middle of downtown. It just depends.
We don't bump into a lot of Delta crews but we do tend to hang with the JetBlue, SWA crowd.
The only time I contemplated sleeping in a bathtub was when I was in DCA during the inauguration, but the trouble stayed across the river and I slept like a baby. :-)

Trip rig is 4.2:1
Some trips that are 4-6 days pay on rig, more now pay on block because we are 100% deadhead, so that has helped. It’s probably a driving factor for new bases, eliminating dead head, hotel costs etc.
