Other than the FAA doc and the info from the AIM, know of a simple yet factual doc that explains SMGCS and airport lighting system. ?

FAA AC 120-57 and FAA Order 8000.94 are the most accurate sources I am aware of. Also (much deeper) is FAA AC 150-5340-1L, which gets into airport design criteria. Did you have a specific question? I work with LVO-SMGCS at some of the largest airports in the country. PM me if you would like.
