Been done. Just using new materials.

Does it make for a wing with better lift and drag throughout the flight regime? Yes.

Does the added complexity, manufacturing cost, maintenance cost, possibly weight, and reliability justify it?

Questionable.

We're getting to where almost anything which shaves a few points off the carbon count can be justified... as long as it's sturdy and reliable enough for line ops.

Justified?
So they see a lot of return on investment by reducing carbon count. How does that work? The carbon credit bank pays them back?

The ROI is they can keep flying when greta's zombie army votes in hard carbon caps, and restricts offsets as a mitigation tool.
