Instrument Pilots please advise...

Guys need help...

Tomorow night I have a trip to Nashville and I think I will give the old Titan One Departure a whirl when I leave... So my question is this. I will be flying from Nashville BNA back to CEY...

Looking at the two Titan One DP sheets here:
http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0705/00282TITAN.PDF
http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0705/00282TITAN_C.PDF

Can I file in Block 8 Route Of Flight: Titan One Departure, then direct CEY

Then expect them to just clear me for the Titan One and then have me "resume own navigation" almost imediately back to CEY?

You should be able to file the departure, with a transition.. ie: titan one bwg murey(faf at kcey)

I wouldn't even file that departure. None of those VOR's are on your way. You'd be better filing direct and they will probably vector you out for a bit then point you home.
If you are just wanting to practice flying a DP then I understand but that's not a good flight to use that DP for.

yeah it was for practicing the DP... I haven't a friggin clue why that DP exist. My field is way out of the arrival and departure routing for BNA.

Don't worry about filing the Titan 1. It's not a pilot nav SID, and you'll probably get it in your clearance anyway.

File your first fix like you normally would (direct). They will clear you like this:

"Cleared to CEY via the Titan 1 departure, radar vectors, as filed. Climb and maintain..."

All you need to be concerned about then is the takeoff minimums and any necessary turns (such as off of 2R). You also need the departure frequency as depicted on the chart since they may not give it to you in your clearance (it's assumed that you know it since it's on the Titan 1 departure chart).

The DP exists to ensure that aircraft departing the airfield are clearing various obstacles around the airport, as noted on the bottom left of this page: http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0705/00282TITAN.PDF

It has nothing else to do with route clearances or arrival/departure routes since those requirements are taken care of via vectors on course.
