Default Class Bravo airspace around KMCO area.

I have a question for any pilot that frequently flies into the Class B airspace around Orlando. I am going to be doing a flight from KCRG ( Jacksonville ) to KLEE ( Leesburg Int'l ) in June. I plan on following the Victor airways. I learned to fly up here in Alaska and have never even flown near any Class B airspace but, have numerous hours flying through complex Class C. I am familiar with the basic requirements to enter Class B but, what are the possibilities of a controller telling me to avoid the Class B airspace? Also, traffic for Anchorage Center usually isn't that bad what is the likelihood of me getting flight following for Jacksonville Center? Also, if any experienced pilots with more than 43 hours wants to through in some advice I'd appreciate it. Also, I just passed my PP checkride last week!

Odds are very good that you can get flight following almost anywhere. If they have to cut you lose, just ask them for the next frequency down the road so you can pick it up again when you get to a less-busy sector.

It is possible that a controller will tell you to delay entering bravo for a few minutes. Look on the terminal area chart for any VFR corridors or transition routes...

VFR Corridor: This is a tunnel carved out of the Bravo. You can fly through without a Bravo clearance. There will probably be a common traffic frequency to use.

Transition: This is the route they want you to use when transiting the Bravo. This is actual Bravo, and you will need a clearance, but you will almost certainly be given one when using a transition.

Lot's of flight training activity in central florida, keep a sharp eye out.

I know about VFR corridors but, not really sure on how to fly through one. I will also inform the controller of the fact this will be the first time I am flying into B airspace.

Its pretty easy, just make sure you don't enter the Class B until specifically hearing "Cleared into the Class Bravo." Timing is also a large part too... busy midday they might not be able to accomodate you. Worst case you turn to avoid it or descend below the shelf.

Flying through Class B MCO shouldnt be a problem. Jax Center or Daytona App will hand you down to Orlando App. They will more than likely vector you around the airspace, I get vector everytime around Sanford, and Lake Apopka for departing traffic out of KMCO after that youll on the clear into LAL (Remember Disney World has a TFR). You'll be fine as long as you request a VFR flight following before you depart Jax (& file VFR flight plan)... Now If you go to Tampa they normally cut you lose whether or not you request flight following and the whole approach into tampa and st. pete is a bit tricky at first.

* The only VFR corridor Ive flown and seen on charts is the Hudson River VFR Corridor ...

You can usually get flight following in North/Central Florida. Depending on your route you may get handed JAX-DAB-ORL App, or Daytona may be skipped.

I'd say the odds of being refused entry to Orlando Bravo are very low. However--especially coming from the north--the frequencies can be jammed something terrible; you may have to steer clear until you can integrate yourself into the chatter.

For the record, you don't have to enter Orlando B to get to Leesburg from Craig. JAX Center or Orlando Approach may, in fact, vector you to stay clear of the Bravo, or may give you a lower altitude to stay under it. Even if they do clear you, expect to be vectored around.

Two final things: when you're on with JAX, ask them if R-2910 is active. If it isn't, staying clear of Orlando Bravo en route to KLEE is much easier. Second, as rick mentioned, there's a lot of training activity around Sanford and Leesburg. If you have an extra radio or aren't using flight following, it may behoove you to monitor 123.50.
