Why moving throttles?

It just somehow seems better if the darn things would close rather than calling me a retard......

It is just trying to be helpful..

After I realized the moving throttles on the 737 and 757/767 was not a true indication of what was happening with the engines, I realized that the 'tactile coding' could be incorrect. Movement is not an indication of the engine or engine's health.

1+F is only something done at takeoff, and it basically means slats at 18 degrees and flaps at 10 degrees. On approach/landing, placing the flaps selector in the 1 position gives you just the setting of 1 (slats at 18 degrees, flaps at 0 degrees)

Curious, in a go around, will the slats automatically extend?

No, the only uncommanded movement of flaps or slats is an autoretract feature that will retract the flaps on climbout if the slat retract speed is higher than the max speed for flaps. I know it will happen on the 321 if it is heavy but I have never seen it on a 319....not sure if the 319/320 models even have that capability.
