RAIM Prediction

Does anyone happen to know a place where you can check for and predict RAIM coverage. Something from the DoD or FAA would be nice, not just a GNS 430 sim?

Thanks

All GPS units have RAIM prediction as well. I was unaware of this until about a year ago. Even older units like KLN 90B's and KLN 89's. You have to search for it, but it's there. You can also check with Flight Service. Hope that helps.

You can't just count on the built in Sat DB in your GPS unit for RAIM because some sats may be out for mx...

The RAIM prediction site is much better and yes there are days when half of the US is red/yellow

Cheers
George

This is important. The RAIM prediction in the GPS unit only considers the orbits of the satellites and where they will be at the desired time. It has no way of knowing if they will actually be working when they get there (or were shot down by china).

Fltplan.com includes RAIM information on their flight planning printouts. Not sure if it is updated with real time satellite status though.

That info comes from (or via?) the Volpe center's sytem. If it references that, it should be GTG.
