Question Reseting the Stab Trim B767

Where do operators reset the stab trim after landing on the B767? Does it matter where I set it? I hear some operators reset to 2 degrees some reset to 4 degrees. Does Boeing really care?

I can't speak specifically to the 767. Although I did fly it, it has been a long time ago. Having said that I recall some model I flew where we had to reset the trim so that rain wouldn't accumuate in the tail.

I'm sure someone current can offer a better explanation than mine.

No, once you purchase the aircraft, the only thing that matters is what your FAA approved procedures require.

The Boeing FCOM recommend that the Stab Trim be set at "0" on the First Officer's after landing flow. It was done that way at two different 121 carriers that I flew for and we use Boeing procedures with two current clients. Those procedures both set the Stab Trim at Zero on the after landing flow (Checklist).

I'm not aware of anyone that does it differently but you'll probably get several opinions on this forum.

At UPS, on the 757, we set it at 4, because there is an index on the empennage that we check on the pre-flight walk around.

Although it doesn't matter on the 767, we set it at 4 also, likely just for standardization.

Isn't 4 units nose up close to a normal takeoff trim setting too?
