Default CAT III Approach/Landing

For those of you that have flown these, what was it like? (Difficulty, challenging, etc.) With the runway not being in sight, I'd imagine it would be a great challenge, but also exciting because it's not something you get to do very often. Thanks for the replies!

this is true, ... you're mainly making sure all systems are working for that category of landing (fail operational) and monitoring off of the FMA to be ready for callouts such as "no flare" or something incase the autopilot(s) don't do what their supposed to do.

Those were quite challenging conditions! Wow.
I see why the tolerances must be soooo tight all the way through the end.
Thanks for sharing the video.

It certainly involves a great deal of trust in your equipment. Having done practice CAT III autolands on VFR days and seeing how well the airplane handles it, I don't have much heartburn about doing it in IMC on the rare occasions it is necessary. You just follow the procedures to make sure all the systems work as advertised throughout the approach and landing.

The hard part is finding your way through the soup to your gate after you land ...

Yes, intermidiate fix. It's where the initial segment ends & the intermidiate segment begins on an IAP.
