Sounds like they put you to work on the HU16, aka "the goat." Under bridge departure too narrow for that wing. Had to accept the prevailing tailwind or else taxi back a couple miles. Hope you logged it. An STS driver and more than one ASI told me they intended to. Put an Israeli kid in an Underdog t-shirt on the seat once, he pointed at the attitude indicator and said, "I know what that is." Oh yeah? "It shows you the sky and earth in the dark." Who told you that? "The TWA captain I flew with coming over here."

Last flight out left for Liquordale at sunset. Running behind, some of the guys pushed it of course. Darkness? Pretty decent horizon in that well lit harbor, hard to say. Biggest problem was after you arrived - an hour an a half later - the first crews back were already into melon shots at the dive bar behind the west fence trying not to make eye contact with halter topped property of outlaw patrons just starting to roll in. Left every ounce of sweat a body can produce bobbing around in those aluminum corks during some long & hot days. Seem to recall F/O's starting @ $225 a week plus $4hr on the turbine, $6hr on the Cyclone goat.

I used to live on 63rd and Collins, more than once I heard those guys buzzing north up the beach to FLL in the dark... with lions..tigers...uphill.
