Better flow why you can

True; stranger things have happened. However, purchasing a unionized pilot group chruns the water quite a bit. I think it would be easier for Moxy to offer slightly better pay and work rules and just poach pilots from the regionals who aren’t necessarily glued to any domicile. If anything I think the regionals will have to compete with them. Better pay, better seniority, bigger plane. No doubt Moxy will still just be another stepping stone though.

I’m not in the least anti aviation union, but none of the unions have really done enough at the regional level to have earned the undying love and support of the regional pilots. Had the unions at the majors - ALPA or whoever - actually been willing to push their companies at all for flow from regionals represented by the same union at the regional level, it might have been different. But heck, look at the pay scales historically and even now. Too often they haven’t even ‘wasted’ their negotiating capital to insure decent starting pay for their own first year FOs, far less to help a career boost for their regional junior chapters.
What that means is that those unions largely have all the loyalty of the regional union members that they have earned, which frankly ain’t much. I’d be amazed if a small regional pilot group would Gripe a bit if someone bought the company and said they would all soon be flying A220s for Moxy for 75% of what Delta is paying their A220 crews. I bet they’d be overjoyed.
And if ALPA national griped, they’d just ask, “What have you guys done for us lately...or ever?”
