Ok. I was joking before but in all seriousness if you’re that scared then yeah you should cancel your flight and find another airline that doesn’t freak you out or use another mode of transportation. Do you honestly expect any of these pilots to actually tell you “yeah, if you fly this airline tomorrow you’re going to die”. From what I’m seeing they’ve all tried to reassure you that all pilots operate with the utmost care to get you to your destination safely and are trained to handle situations even when there may be a problem with the plane due to maintenance issues. What more do you want them to say?

As to the issue with the CA and the packs over the Rockies: I don’t think anyone gave any issues about him restarting the deferred pack. I would have! What bothers me is we keep setting our self up for a repeat scenario. We use the term “operational need” as a trump card to bypass too many checks and balances. Getting juniored? Operational need. HK to GUC on a compact snow runway? Operational need? One deferred pack over the Rockies? Well, you know the answer.
As been stated, our CAs are on point and outstanding pilots. We are literally the last line of defense and we hold that line with precision and strength. Basically we all need some serious raises!

I have some reservations about this post. Warning: I’m not known for my bedside manner. Anyway rather than discuss air vs land travel. There’s one thing for sure. Most pilots have invested great time and resources to sit up front. Each day they strap on that jet with the short term goal of going home at the end of their trip. The long term goal is retirement. They can’t accomplish either flying planes into the ground. But I think you know that already. Take a pill and enjoy the ride with whomever you fly.
