New FO - What to expect?
 

Hey Everyone

New FO here who just accepted a class date with TSA. There were a lot of pros and cons that led me to this decision, however it was the one that I ultimately came to make.

Continuing, I am curious on everyone’s first hand experience with the company. As a first year FO, how much should one expect to make in a month? I know this isn’t an important aspect, however as being someone that has a 1200 a month student loan with a 12.5% interest rate, it’s slowly but surely strangling me and am simply trying to budget out my life accordingly.

Also, how is the flying at TSA? I’m just looking for a genuine answer regarding the time flown, upgrade times, etc from a line pilot instead of what just a recruiter says.

Prob $2500-3000/month. $2500 if you're crediting closer to min, 95 hours will prob get you closer to $3000. Then your bonus payouts will be on top of that (but they take a big tax witholding hit).

If you work hard it is reasonably possible to credit 100-110+ as a line holder. Plus building 1000 hours for upgrade will happen quicker.

Live cheap, drive a beater, pick up open time, get loans paid down... use good payment history to refinance.

Also can anyone comment to. Premium pay and when it kicks in?

150 to 300 percent for open time. 150 is the minimum but can be more depending on how short they are. Starts when you finish OE.

4 4 day trips of about 80 hrs away x1.9. 320 x1.9. About 600. Give or take
