Latest Interview Gouge

Hello all.
I am scheduled for my Skype interview this Friday and was wondering if any of you recently went through the same process and if you could bestow any knowledge or feedback you have from your experience!
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

Lol. Roger that.

Brief a Jepp approach plate, speed restrictions, when an alternate is required, alternate minimums, fuel requirements, decode a METAR, a couple of TMAAT/WWYD reasonable questions. Friendly, quick and to the point. All non-HR questions had a straightforward answer. 3/4 of an hour all up including short company presentation. Decision on the spot. Enjoy.

So the hiring process is only a skype interview?

You're given the option of in-person or Skype and they emphasize that no preference is given to those who choose to interview in-person. There's a decent amount of paperwork you have to send in prior to the Skype interview but it was still a very quick and easy process.

I believe they are still doing current 121 (and no glaring issues) no interview required...

Mine was Skype interview, seemed to go very well. About 45 min, flew by. More back and forth about experience, a couple of TMAAT, and one tech question. Good peeps and very laid back, was definitely an enjoyable experience.

Thank you very much! Got the "Welcome to Trans States" Class Date letter yesterday, super quick response. Weird though, I told them I couldn't start till mid January, seems to be a disconnect that I'll have to follow up w/ them today.
FWIW, interviewed in person w/ SkyWest yesterday and it was a night and day difference as far as thoroughness, the tech went 45 minutes for all 5 candidates. Seems to be a little overkill, just MHO.

They must had up'ed the ante at SKW. I interviewed last year at a local school here in town and that was the most kicked back tech interview ever. The guy was more interested in talking about helos than anything. Must just be hit or miss. Even offered on the spot. Congrats on the letter..

I'm almost certain SKW has changed their policy on on the spot CJO's; there were 5 of us there, and IMHO, most did pretty well, and in fact, one of the younger guys asked if they will be doing on-the-spot CJOs and they said no as they have revamped their policy. They told the group to expect a call w/in 4-5 business days. As far as the tech goes, they were not laid back at all, and there was no back and forth war stories. They were extremely in the weeds on most topics; meaning you would shack an answer from the original question, then they would keep digging and digging till you weren't clear about something. Was also a little irritating too because you would answer something correctly, then they would look at you weird, and go "are you sure?" yes. "Are you 100% sure?" Yes. "Well okay", and then they would move on. Pretty crappy technique, especially when you get the answers right. I could have cared less having been hazed enough in my current career, but it was definitely getting the younger kids riled and out of their comfort zone.

"Tell me about a time when your employer told you to deny a jumpseat to a pilot commuting home specifically because they work for a particular airline."

Just spoke to another candidate who concurs with your experience. Times are changing.. Wonder if they gauge the interview based on candidates history. Just speculating..

Interesting. Well, got the call from SkyWest 36 hours after the interview offering me a class start date of April for CRJ. Now time to make a decision.
