How fast are new candidates getting to class?
I am sure I don't have the proper wording here, but can someone tell me how quickly new hires are getting to flight school? So if TS hires me is there a big delay before I head to training? I used to hear stories about how pilots were given dates 6 months out.
Thanks! |

I would recommend applying and interviewing as soon as you are within six months of availability but at least three months out, if possible, to take advantage of the Seniority Reservation Program. I don't know that TSA has ever had much of a backlog for class dates but the SRP creates a big incentive to get a jump on things.

I interviewed early January and had a class date for late February. So I don't think so.

Is the training in St Louis?

Buddy of mine was supposed to start end of Feb. Class moved to April. Reason from TS, they are short on captains right now.
Had the option of going to Go Jet instead. |
too many FO's so delays in FO training is the word I heard.

Yes they are delaying classes to try and fix the training situation as they is a big delay getting into sims and IOE. My class just finished ground school this week, but now we will have to wait about 3 weeks before we can start the sim prep training. Most people have a checkride scheduled for the end of March early April.
Talked to some guys that started in September and that are taking their check rides this week. They waited about 5 weeks from completion of ground school til starting sim prep. So the good news is that the clog is starting to improve. Supposedly there are a couple of classes for IOE captains coming up as well so this should help get guys through. In my opinion TSA is fat on FOs right now |

I wouldn’t consider that an “opinion” that is clearly a FACT
