Why would you ever apply to TSA??

If any of you Waterskiers have an app into UAL you will be put in a shorter stack for an interview. It is codified in our CBA and make sure your reps know about it as well so they can coordinate with the UALMEC.

“Subject to other legal obligations, the Company shall make reasonable efforts to fill Pilot vacancies with the individuals who satisfy United’s hiring standards, who have previously worked for carriers represented by ALPA, and who are no longer working for those carriers for economic reasons such as lay-offs or the shutdown of that carrier.”

so can we tick the box for ‘currently furloughed from another airline’ on airline apps now, or do we have to wait til it’s official?

I’d wait to hear back from your rep on that. That question has come up and is being run up the chain now.

Hate to state the obvious but unless you ARE furloughed you should not check the box. It’s in the unions best interest to keep you staffing the failing airline until the actual furlough happens.

“shall make reasonable efforts”——and that’s their “out”.

pilots really need to stop negotiating contracts against lawyers—they loose every time. What’s gonna define “reasonable” efforts—1 out of 20,000? After friends and family, affirmative action, squadron buddies, shipmates, cousins uncles once removed—the list continues.

one seniority list fellows. That should be the goal. “Regional” is a word that is used to mask the new “c” scale. Nothing more.

Not a single person should be hired at Yo-Nited until every pilot on the TSA seniority list is offered a pilot position there. In order of date of hire seniority.
