Did Joe DePete retire? (FedEx)

Tell ya what, though. Since you're so intent on knowing, why don't you climb out from behind your screen name and shoot Joe an e-mail. You can ask him directly and get it straight from the horse's mouth. I'm pretty sure he'll politely tell you, It's none of your damn business.

Since one doesn't get a Navy retirement at 15 years, you're right. But if a guy went for 20 and started receiving a Navy retirement, he'd continue to get Navy retirement checks every month, even if he was subsequently hired by Delta.
There aren't. He's entitled to his airline pension, and his ALPA salary.
Hmm, could there be some airline retirement envy going on here?

Tony, ALPA had a very attractive Pension and benefit package in 2003. Actually a lot better than a line pilot. Can’t recall how I got this copy. If things are still the same Joe will have two pensions, FedEx and ALPA.

Presently, he has no ALPA pension to collect, and he has deferred his FedEx pension. He is only receiving his ALPA President salary.
No double dipping.
(Unless he's secretly receiving a pension from APC (Amalgamated Paper Carriers) for that paper route he had when he was a kid. )

I'm out on a trip WITHOUT my contract mandated CAKE. First world problems.
And to all you Delta/UAL guys coming on here to bad mouth Pete. FU and the horse you rode in on. We didn't ***** and whine all those many years when the Passenger weenies were running the show and couldn't give a Duck about US cargo guys...well....except for our $$$.
He's taking what he has earned as a FDX employee, nothing you can say or do about it....
Christ...what a bunch or prima-donna's..

Indeed, he will have two pensions when he leaves the ALPA President job. That's in the future.

Of all elected representatives at all levels, the ALPA President is the only one who is an employee of ALPA, paid by ALPA and not the respective airline. The salary and pension are all part of the package determined by the Board of Directors (that is, all of the MEC Reps).
This arrangement insulates the President from a particular allegiance or threat of being fired, and allows him to focus on his job of serving all pilots. In fact, he's not even required to be a pilot at all.
You may have noticed ALPA and his former employer don't exactly agree on some fundamental strategic issues like ME3. It's better this way.

Well I would feel better if you gave me your B fund. That makes about as much sense as your nonsensical whining.
What do you lose by having him receive a benefit he earned and FEDEX pilots negotiated for? What do you gain? The answer to both questions is the same. Nothing!
