If you really want to get in the weeds, you can find the 2018 Board of Directors Resolution on President Compensation here:

Just another comment. When I first read that 2003 document I thought the package was excessive. That was until I had a conversation about it with the lobbyist for Southwest Pilots. He said the package was on the low side for the leader of a major Union in D.C.. It’s a tough neighborhood in D.C. so you have to make benefits very attractive. I had to agree after that conversation.

Let's see.
Leave of Absence (non-current pilot) to be ALPA President Okay.
Deciding to Retire (currency not applicable) versus minimally flying the line to be ALPA President Bad
Does that about sum about the arguments?
That Pete Should be on a Leave of Absence versus changing is mind and retiring?

What you are witnessing is a group within DALPA recycling some tactics from a successful overthrow within their own MEC after 2015 Contract 1.0 failed to pass a vote. I can assure you that 80kts, JamesBond, etc. knew the answer to their question before posting it. This is just part of their political playbook which is now appears is expanding beyond their original borders.

As I’ve said before, DL guys have had their time in office, with the last guy having been largely do nothing (Canoll). Bartels was a dud MEC chair, so why on earth would he do any better at national? It was time for someone else, and it’s not cool if the new guy tainted himself from the start. That’s it.

More complete and utter BS. The FAA reauthorization is the most amazing ALPA political success story in memory. The ME3 is not adding flying from Europe to the U.S. jetBlue and Frontier are ALPA carriers with new contracts. The list goes on and on.
You all seem to be nothing but union/ALPA haters who do nothing but try to undermine our collective interests with unrealistic social media chest puffing.

Your conspiracy theory is reaching truther level. It was a simple question with the follow up trying to figure out whether or not he lied about it.

It’s okay. I’ll let others be the judge, the subject matter is there for the fact gathering. In the last 13 years I’ve been an ALPA member I don’t think anything would have been different with my career based on who the ALPA Nat President is. Lee Moak was damaging simply due to his philosophy. It is these obviously political games that disgust me about ALPA in general.
In the end the winners in these silly political battles are the politicians parading around as pilots and their tagalong todies who enjoy DC. The losers are the thousands of dues paying line pilots who deserve better.
