Union/Scope Indirect Spacejet Win
I think this counts as a win, at least in the US.
MHI's non-scope compliant RJ has foundered on shoal water... their business case for this thing originally assumed scope relaxation in the US, which never materialized, forcing a design revision to get under the scope wire. https://aviationweek.com/aerospace/a...546e37317bfed5 |
The ERJ2-175 facing the same issues. Massively heavy engines, greatly increased wingspan, and a few frames longer than the original 175. Bad business plan to base it on hope.

If they have abandoned the plans then it tells you that the design was only viable for a scope relief application. An aircraft design that can only be successful if flown by cheap pilots and not based on it's on merit or efficiency deserves to be cancelled.

Basically. Somebody outside the US would fly it, but the real market for RJ's is the US.
